The word network marketing has a great impact than any other business terms in the market today. The impact, however, can either be good or bad.

For those who gained negative experiences from network marketing, the very first idea that comes to their mind whenever they hear the word is “scam.” This is for those who find it a fraudulent activity; something that other people uses in order to gain money from them without even returning something good in return.

But for those who earned a hefty amount of advantages, network marketing is a new way of earning a living. They see it as an invigorating change from the typical way of marketing, wherein they can earn more without even doing more.

We know it better as residual income. And this is where network marketing aficionados contend that they alleviate people’s lives more than anything else.

But the question is, especially for those who cannot grasp yet the meaning and the process of gaining residual income; does network marketing provide residual income? Is it really true or just some fancy advertising strategies so as to attract people to join their marketing scheme?

To answer that, let us first define what residual income means.

In simple terms, residual income refers to the continuous payment or compensation that you get even if you stopped working. That is on a monthly basis. For example, once you entered and joined network marketing, the company or the organization will give you a portion of the profits every time the customer you have referred to them buys a monthly quantity of their product. This means that even if you are not selling anymore or even recruiting somebody into the company, you still get to earn some money.

Sounds too good to be true? Guess again.

Most network marketing companies contend that residual income is, indeed, downright achievable based on the premise that what their member earns is just the benefits he or she gets from providing the company a greater source of income that is, referring some customers. And the residual income that they get is the compensation they get from their downline.

Moreover, most network marketing people insist that when you enter into a network marketing scheme, the very premise that you get paid is because you also help other people grow their business that is why you get the profit from whatever income your referrals achieve.

If this is the case, then why the fuss about this matter? What is wrong with getting a residual income?

Actually, there is nothing wrong about it. If you earn, then, that is good for you. But the fact that network marketing asserts a continuous flow of compensation even if you don’t do anything is illogical in the sense that everything you earn in this world has its price. You sow what you reap.

Consequently, in order to enlighten those who wish to know if the residual income in network marketing is true or not, here are some facts that you must know first:

1. A business is a risk.

This means that nobody can be sure that their business will grow or not. Therefore, any company existing today may not be so twenty years after.

If you are to look into the reality, you can clearly see that there were companies that were previously strong and seem to be in perfect business but have already closed down.

2. Everything is a fashion.

Since most network marketing, or any company for that matter, involves a certain product, we can always say that what may seem fashionable today may not be acceptable in a month’s time. Most products that exist today are sometimes in demand because of their newness. But after sometime, the trend dies down and the product is left behind.

3. The concept of “attrition”

Let’s face it. Nothing is, indeed, permanent in this world. People come and people go. When your customers have finally decided that they no longer want your product because they are not satisfied anymore, they would go and leave your services. That is what attrition is all about. It is how your wages deteriorates due to the drop off scale of your client base.

So, now to answer the question whether the residual income most network marketing asserts is true or not – it depends. Like any business or venture, we should always bear in mind that it is not permanent.

The bottom line is that whether a person gets a residual income or not, the best thing to do while still earning money is to save for the future. Never depend on it as if it is a bottomless pit where money comes incessantly.

To me, the beauty of Network Marketing is that an upline has financial interest in you. They make money when you make money.

Somewhere along the line it became OK, for an upline to charge money for training their downline. I really want you to think about this.

If an upline makes money when a downline makes money, is it logical for the upline to charge the downline money to teach them how to make money?

Network Marketing Scams - Truth On MLM...

Here is a fact: Scam’s exist in Network Marketing.

Here is another fact: Not all Network Marketing companies are scams.

It is both easy and wrong for Network Marketers to ignore the negative aspects of the industry when they should be learning from the negative in an attempt to get better at what they do.

It is also easy and wrong for anti-Network Marketing folks to ignore the positives and paint all companies with a broad brush.

I keep thinking that it would be great to get these two sides together in some type of open forum for a sincere and useful dialogue. Anti-MLMers can be good at pointing out flaws, but sometimes lack the ability to offer ways to improve. At the same time, MLMers can “positive mental attitude” themselves into thinking that there is no room for improvement in the business model.

Remember, Network Marketing is not as bad as the critics say or as good as the promoters say.

Do a Google search for MLM and the top three sites are MLMwatch, MLM Survivor and What’s Wrong with Multi-level Marketing. All three sites are what I would consider Anti-MLM.

Search Quixtar and and sites 2 thru 6 are Anti-Quixtar.

I am no fan of Quixtar, in fact in my opinion, they deserve the critics. I just find it interesting.

Most of the Anti-MLM sites do not present both sides of the story. There are scams and scammers in MLM, but there are good companies and good people as well.

One site that does present both sides is creeping up in the rankings and is currently listed at the bottom of page 5.

What Is The Truth On MLM - Do You Know?

Just Mention the words "MLM", multi level marketing, network marketing and watch the sparks fly. Reactions range from distrust to anger. You hear words like 'scam" and "fraud" a lot. On the other end of the spectrum are those fiercely loyal to Network Marketing.

Why such strongly opposing views?

The Pro MLM voices come mainly from within the industry - while the Anti Multi Level Marketing camp is largely on the outside.

But that doesn't paint the whole picture.

Many of those who are adamantly opposed to network marketing were once in the business themselves...and more importantly - failed miserably. It's also true that many of those with the strongest anti-mlm convictions base their opinions on hearsay.

We've all heard the "My cousin ( friend, brother, uncle ) Bob got sucked into one of those things - he lost a pile of money!" Or "Yeah - MLM is a scam - don't waste your time!"

So then what is the Truth about MLM?

MLM is simply a method of distributing products to the end user that allows a company to maximize revenues in order to pay commissions out to their sales force. These commissions are paid to individual distributors.

Companies minimize costs and maximize profits using this model. Which explains the potential for the huge commission checks you hear about.

But in order for an individual distributor to make money they must spend the bulk of their time recruiting people into their opportunity. In other words - product sales are not the main focus. Recruiting new distributors who will likewise consume the products is the name of the game - and where the big money's made.

It is this factor that creates the bulk of the negative perceptions about the MLM industry.

But does it have to be that way! What's the real problem?

Quite simply - it's this...

A new distributor is told to make a list of his or her "warm market". In layman's terms that means every person within their sphere of influence - from the garbage guy to Great Aunt Lucy.

They're told not to let anyone who comes within 3 feet of them get away without hearing their pitch. Suddenly the new distributor realizes that even close friends and family are avoiding them like the plague. So they try running ads about their "great new opportunity"...

We've all seen those!

"Make $20,000 a week while you sleep! Call xxx-xxx-xxxx Today!"

They pay good money to place those ads. Their upline assured them it would work - only it doesn't!

Most of those distributors aren't intentionally trying to "suck someone in". They're simply following instructions from their upline distributor in order to grow their business. And, if you're thinking - "Oh then it's that upline guy who's the jerk! You'd be wrong...

You see many of those upline distributors have little or no experience in network marketing themselves...so guess what they're doing? You got it! Those poor guys and gals are doing whatever their upline told them...and on it goes.

MLM offers an income generating model that's supposed to allow the average person to reach up and grab their piece of the pie. And - it's precisely because a person wants it so badly and is so emotionally involved in the outcome that they get so upset when it doesn't happen.

For most of the honest, hard-working people who swallow their doubts and fears and scrape together the cash to give MLM a shot - the results are dismal.

They jump in with both feet and flog their opportunity to anyone thats breathing.

Net result? Most new distributors quit in short order because no-one bothered to mention little details like effective advertising and marketing and so they run out of money almost as fast as they run out of people to talk to.

It's a known fact that 95% of all active network marketers make little or no money. The industry attrition rate is appalling which is why MLM'rs are bashing their brains out trying to find people to pitch their opportunity to.

So - does that make Multi Level Marketing a scam?

I'll leave that to you to decide...

The real question to my mind is - how do professional network marketers make the big dollars?

And the answer is that they target people who are already successful - either within the MLM Industry or in some other field.

Most network marketers fail because they recruit people who know absolutely nothing about MLM - and even less about running a business!

If you've been struggling to make a go of MLM - you might want to read that again - it's the missing piece of the puzzle.

So - is MLM a viable business option?

In my view - yes but on the proviso that you understand how the game is played and know how to market effectively.

Isn't that true of any business?

There's a lot of money to be made in MLM if you're willing to work at it and your message and your target market are well matched.

If you don't know what that means then you need to study marketing.

Bottom line - if you're considering network marketing as a career or you're already involved in the industry and not seeing the success you'd like - don't rely on your upline to either know or be willing to teach you the Truth On MLM.

To MLM or Not to MLM?

I was posed a question the other day about MLMs, why it leaves a bad taste in some peoples mouth, the term MLM even triggers spam filters. Some programs even advertise "This is not MLM" as though that is a plus for it. Is MLM really bad?

And it got me to thinking.....

To MLM or not to MLM? That is a very good question with a lot of opinions from many sides.....

Here is mine.

Yes there are many MLM companies that pushed big dreams and fell by the wayside leaving a bad taste in some peoples mouths. Where massive amounts were made by company and upline on the sales of..... not products, but MARKETING MATERIALS!

But can that not be said of other pay structures as well?

And many people put thier hopes and dreams into a MLM company, only to see them squashed. But can that not be said of other pay structures as well?

And, true, there is attrition in the lower ranks of MLM structured companies, does this make MLM a bad marketing concept?

I must say very strongly NO!

If you look at any online program you will find a high attrition rate,

Why?

Sadly, probably about 90% of online marketers will "try" a program for a couple or few weeks, if they are not seeing big rewards, they move on to the next "hot program". So just by default you are going to have attrition. MLMers shouldn't let that discourage them, but it does. Many good marketers give up because so many of there downline drop out, leaving them feeling as though their hard work is for nothing. But it IS to be expected with any type of marketing system.

Is that a negative on MLM? Or is that just a reflection to how life really is? One of the natural laws of online marketing that you will encounter, and should expect, IF you actually market anything....

One thing a good MLM does do, IF you want to become successful, is promote TEAMWORK. Which teamwork is a good concept even if you aren't doing MLM. Many affiliate programs are "multi-tiered" systems. Never have figured out the true difference between multi-tiered and MLM..... But any one that is in your downline that you earn a commission on deserves your help and support! After all, the more successful THEY are the more successful YOU will be. A good MLM is structured to encourage this team building knowing that the company will benefit with a marketing force of strong teams supporting it.

A good marketer will be willing to help, even if the person they offer help to isn't in their downline, even if that person isn't in the company they are promoting!

In my opinion MLM is the best marketing system when it is coupled with a solid product or service, a good pay structure, and is backed by an honest and straightforward company. And though a "newbie" may not be as successful as someone with years of experience, if they are in an organization that "shares", they will get their training and will grow in knowledge as well as growing their business.

As with any business online or off, to become successful in MLM marketing will require dedication, work, perseverance, and being approachable and helpful. You will have up days and down days, as in any business. But in a good MLM structured team you should also have a team full of support above and below you to celebrate the good with and get support through the bad. It is a people business!

What Is Multi-Level And How Should It Be Worked

Multi-level marketing is really a partnership. You go into business with someone that has the same interests and goals you have. You make a commitment to each other. You work with the same people. Working multi-level marketing correctly not only makes success easier, it eliminates many problems.

The hardest thing is to find the person you want to work with (your sponsor). You want someone who is willing to work and assist you when needed. You should join programs under the same person all the time. This makes for a solid downline. If your sponsor isn't interested in a particular program, contact his sponsor. By doing this, you will strengthen you group.

Many people complain about others stealing their people. They seem to think that just because they signed someone up once, they should always have them. If someone gives their downline the help and assistance they should, there would be no need for them to worry about someone stealing them away. They should want to continue with you because they know you will help them. Why should someone stick with you if all you do is collected commissions from them? Can you really blame them for not following you into other programs?

Take a look at the other side of the "coin". Having the right people in your downline is just as important as having the right sponsor. If someone sponsored you into a program and helped you, don't expect them to sign you in another program if you haven't tried to do anything on you own. Granted, they make money for those they sponsor for you, but why should they make you money if you don't do anything?

Mailing out hundreds of brochures may get you several people in your downline. This may look good on a printout, but what about on a commission check? Would you rather have a printout a foot long with a small check - or a small printout with a large check?

Be choosy in whom you recruit. Let them know what you expect from them and what they can expect from you. Level with them completely about the program you are trying to get them into. Having 2 or 3 good people will make you more money than having 10 or 12 deadbeats.

Don't join every program that comes along. Find one you like and work it. It takes time to build a solid downline. Help your downline and have them do the same. This way everybody will make money. You can't expect to keep your downline if you leave them stranded when you get into profit.

You have to help them get in profit too. They will be more apt to follow you in other programs this way.

Be careful what you promise people. Remember, nothing is guaranteed. Be as honest as you can. Don't tell someone you'll do something if you can't. Offer your help, but guarantee nothing. No matter how good something might seem, it might not work. If you mislead people, how long do you expect to keep them?

Doing things this way may take a little longer, but look at the advantages!

You have a solid downline.

You don't have to race to the phone or mailbox to be first to contact someone.

Because you are working with the same people, you will get to know them.

You will have a steady income. You don't have to worry about finding new "schemes" and new "victims" every few months.

Actually, four things are needed to be successful in MLM. A good product, a good marketing structure, a good sponsor and a strong downline. The time and money spent to find these four things is well worth it. Don't settle for anything less. To do so will only restrict the goals you can achieve.

Once you have found these four things, it's easy. All you have to do is keep in touch with your 5 or 6 people. If everyone does this, no one will fail. Everybody will be a success.

REALITY CHECK

In a typical network marketing plan, in order for YOU to make bigger commissions (the vast majority people that join rarely break even, let alone make any commissions with all the monthly fees you pay), you got to

recruit other people into the program. Whoever you sign-up becomes part of your DOWN LINE and remains on a level below you.

If you think you're "good enough," or just want to get your feet wet to see for yourself, the first thing you should do is decide if that great sounding offer you're thinking about is really a true multi-level marketing plan with a real product to sell, or simply a dirty little scheme trying to sell you on the "quick bucks" just selling the program to others. It's fairly easy to spot a phony. Here's a few quick tests that should help you decide. If the MLM offer you're considering can't give believable answers to these crucial questions tell the promoter to take hike!

1. Does the sales literature contain detailed description or its products or services, or only countless references to how easily, and quickly you can make money with little work or commitment?

Watch Out! If products or services are only mentioned as an after-thought, if at all, you're asking for trouble. The program is probably designed just to push dealerships, sponsorships, distributors or whatever terms are used. It's all done with smoke and mirrors. There's no substance. How can it work? Sooner or later it will fail!

2. Does the MLM offer products or services that the public needs, and wants?

This is kind of a trick question. Think about it. Is there really demand for what you 're going to offer? Lots of luck if you 're stuck with something that doesn't generate repeat business. It's the lifeblood necessary to generate the commissions you got into the plan for in the first place!

3. Can similar products be found in retail stores, or be obtained through mailorder at about the same price?

Your commissions and bonuses, if any, are based on sponsoring people who can fill orders. When you have a good product - that's what makes the money for you. Even if you have a good product, if it can be purchased through regular retail channels, ask yourself why people are going to buy from you instead.

4. Can you generate repeat sales?

If the company has a reputation for quality products you should be able to generate repeat business, build and hold your down line. That's what's necessary for any successful MLM Plan.

DECIDED THAT MLM PLAN YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT IS OK? HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL!

1. A quality product or service.

2. A successful attitude. You must Live, Think, Talk, Dream Success. All day. Every day. No Exceptions. Sell. Sell. Sell.

3 Believe in yourself, and the company you're working for.

4 Have a realistic goal. Don't aim to high, but you do have to motivate yourself.

5. Discipline. You will never be successful if you only work at it when you feel like it! Go Back and read item # 2 again!

6. Find Prospects. If you don't know how, you will never get past first base!

7. You should like people. It's hard to be a good salesman if you don't; and that's what you have to be. A good salesman!

make $100,000 or some other arbitrary high figure with their program in your first year. Honest companies can't possibly make such an offer, or are not giving you the whole story!

Read the fine print. To collect on the guarantee you probably have to fulfill a few little requirements. Like pay a year's worth of monthly dues, Provide proof you distributed 25,000 brochures, or have at least 10 people in your down line.

Multilevel Marketing or Bad Dream!

You may not know this but the law is after you. Yep. You may want to reconsider telling those lies about your income. Have you heard about the “70% Rule”? Did you know you are personally liable for what you say? Are you aware that multilevel marketing has added up numerous lies to only make things worse for the industry? Can you tell the difference between a pyramid scheme and a mlm? Do you know what is legal? Maybe it is time you learn.

Before I actually get into my answers to these questions for you, I would like to tell you my version of mathematics. Suppose you had a perfect MLM group. Let call it a 5 widespread. Each person has also done his or her part. Failure comes when you run out of people. Can you see this? It has to happen. You can invent product, but when your main focus is recruiting, which is what most MLM groups are about then you have to run out of people. How would you like to be at the start of a company with 5 people under you and 5 under each of them and so on. After a while, who cares if the company fails? The man at the top doesn’t. For a perfect down line of this group, it would fail no matter what. To make it interesting for math, after 13 rungs, you would have 305 million 175 thousand, 781 people in this MLM group. The sad part is the bottom people are paying but there is no one to sell to. Yep, I know what you are saying. This can’t happen. Yeah, I know, it will fail long before this. It always does. People fail in MLM. Steer clear of multilevel marketing plans that pay commissions for recruiting new distributors. They're actually illegal pyramid schemes. Why is pyramiding dangerous? Because plans that pay commissions for recruiting new distributors inevitably collapse when no new distributors can be recruited. And when a plan collapses, most people-except perhaps those at the very top of the pyramid-end up empty-handed.

Okay, I know that you are probably as green as the grass in the spring when it comes to MLM’s but did you know that some of your most prominent veterans of MLMers do not know about the “70 Percent Rule”. I did not make this up. I will try to make since of this to you. For a MLM Company to be legal, 70% of all the products must be sold out of the network, or to a non-member/non-distributor. I have read that the largest MLM group on the planet only shows approximately 18% to non-distributors. Wow. I guess all of them are illegal. This makes me want to end my story here.

NO, I cannot do that. Lets talk about you personally. Are you personally involved in the lies that are told about the MLM programs out there? Are you exaggerating you income by a few thousand dollars. Are you telling people they won’t have to do much of anything at all. Well, it’s time to clean up. If you are even repeating what the company tells you to say and it is a lie, you are responsible. If you company makes claims and you repeat it, and you represent the company, then you are liable. Sorry. No get out of jail card for you. When you promote the qualities of a product or service, you're obligated to present those claims truthfully and to ensure there's enough solid evidence to back them up. The Federal Trade Commission advises you to verify the research behind any claims about a product's performance before repeating those claims. You recall any claims that others has told you that convinced you that MLM was the way to go. MLM was the way of the future. Let me assure you, it was never the way of the future. It has always been a sore thumb. There was a rumor most likely started from MLMers that Harvard University taught MLM. To set that record straight, Harvard, Stanford, or any other college that I know of does not teach Network Marketing. Most of them detest it.

Another claim that some MLMers have rumored is that MLM has made more millionaires than any other form of marketing in the industry. I think I have read the figure to be about 20%. If this is true and if real estate produces 90% of all the millionaires out there, then we have another mathematical problem. However, I will say simply that this is so far fetched that it is not even worth writing about. 1% of goods and services sold in the US would be about 55 billion. MLM sold about 10 billion. Whoops, 1% of goods making 20% of the Millionaires. Nice trick!

Well, that is some of what I found in my research of MLMs and unfortunately the business model is a hoax hidden under misleading slogans. You’d be better off playing the lottery and then calling it a business opportunity. I think I have read of a business opportunity involving the lottery somewhere.

“Also, MLM is not replacing existing forms of marketing. It does not legitimately compete with other marketing approaches at all. Rather, MLM represents a new investment scheme couched in the language of marketing. Its real products are distributorships that are sold through misrepresentation and exaggerated promises of income. People are buying products in order to secure positions on the sales pyramid. The possibility is always held out that you may become rich if not from your own efforts then from some unknown person ("the big fish") who might join your "downline."” Last thing, all that leisure time you are promised. Forget that. Making money in MLM requires extraordinary time commitment as well as considerable personal skill and persistence. Beyond the sheer hard work and talent required, the business model inherently consumes more areas of one's life and greater segments of time than most occupations. In MLM, everyone is a prospect.

Do you want some good news? If you are thinking about joining a MLM plan, take your time and learn everything you can before signing up. Check the company record, the background, the product, and if it is competitively priced? Stay away if it is inflated. If it takes a large investment up front, RUN! If it is a requirement to recruit, then don’t join up. That is called a pyramid.

MLM Leadership – How They Fail You

The success in your MLM career depends to a great extent on your sponsor and the quality of leaders in your MLM organization. More often than not the leaders bury the distributor even before the business failure can kill them.

Now this is a shocking statement to make but the quality of leadership in the network marketing industry is extremely poor. The industry which is touted as the future of enterprise – and I fully subscribe to this view – accounts for 99 % failures among all new entrants. This kind of failure rate is not conducive to the growth of the industry. For such high failure rates, the leaderships in MLM hold the main responsibility.

Take a look at how the leadership is failing in this business.

MLM Leadership Failure #1 - Playing the Numbers Game

The moment you are recruited into a network marketing opportunity, you are asked to create your list, list of warm circles and all the other people you know. The leaders insist that you to speak to everybody with a view to recruit them into business. Many get recruited just because they cannot refuse you, but never put enough time or effort into the business.

Every person you recruit is part of your business team. Would you recruit an employee in the same manner if you are in any other business? Would you choose anyone as your business partner just because they said yes? Or would you apply certain standards, assess their interest levels and their ability to contribute effectively to your business.

MLM Leadership Failure #2 - Dumping Stocks

Most leaders are under pressure to achieve certain business volumes to sustain their own monthly incomes. In the guise of helping their distributors achieve higher positions they motivate them to invest on stocks to attain higher commission levels or positions in the hierarchy. Most distributors are unable to sell off the stocks as they lack the direct selling skill. Leaders blame the new distributor as not putting enough efforts and move on to another distributor.

The process gets repeated. Most distributors fail or hang on in the hope of making good their losses and keep losing more money. Leaders often justify their actions by showing the rare success as an example to all other distributors. This further plays havoc with the self esteem and morale of distributor accelerating their failure.

MLM Leadership Failure #3 - Not Focusing on Training

Most leaders call some motivational pep talk and fiery raves as training. The quality and ability of the leaders to train their down lines in the skills necessary to succeed is questionable. The leaders themselves more often than not have become leaders due to chance heavy hitter in their team and collective volumes of their down lines. They lack the cutting edge leadership abilities to groom more leaders. The ability to inspire, facilitate and show how to achieve success is sadly lacking. They hide behind clichéd and oft repeated MLM jargons.

Leadership failure #4 - Not Allowing Originality and Dissent

Any creativity, originality and innovation is struck down in the name of systems which mostly favor the company or the top leadership. Dissent is viewed as disloyalty. Questioning the marketing plan is tantamount to revolution and you may be put down with a heavy hand. More often than not the leaders are insecure and are jealous of rising stars in their teams who take the spotlight away from them.

Leadership Failure #5 - Being Elitist

Leaders are treated as god themselves. MLM organizations too support this kind of behavior with special front row seating based on hierarchy. Lowly Distributors are not allowed to occupy front rows. Many Leaders also make it a point to arrive late not respecting the time of other distributors. Organizations too try to create a super star aura around the leaders. Distributors are made to rush to their leaders with autograph books and requesting photo opportunities. Some organizations have even qualifications (dump more stocks) for photo opportunities and special dinners with leaders where non qualifiers are not allowed creating a major divide between the leadership and distributors.

Final Views

The leadership must look down and distributor must stop looking up except when they require the genuine guidance of true leaders. In this business the leaders require the down lines more than the down line requiring the leader. It is an independent business where you are the boss. The hierarchical leader can be dispensed with if he does not add value to your own growth.

The network marketing/MLM industry must learn to create true leaders who can inspire with their vision, coach, and mentor to make sure of 99 % success rather than 99 % failures. The leadership must take the responsibility for such huge failure rates and made accountable as in other business organizations. Then and only then will this industry gain respectability and show healthy growth.

Many people question the ethics of MLM. They claim that the people on the top get all the benefit from the people working below them, while the people below don't get much if anything at all. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Think about where you work. Isn't it true that the boss is raking in the big bucks out of the money YOU are making for the company? And if there is cutbacks who is the first to go? Definitely not the boss and probably not his bonus.

With an honest MLM, you can easily make more than the boss if you put the effort into it. He gets a little bit from your sales, but you get the lion's share.

But isn't this just a big 'pyramid scheme'? Yes and no. Anyone who works a conventional job is in a pyramid scheme. Every company, army, and government in the world is built on the pyramid concept. However, with multilevel marketing, you aren't held back by the people above you like you are in a conventional job.

With an MLM, you can build your business as large and as profitable as you want it to be.

So, what is a Pyramid scheme?

These illegal scams involve a large number of people at the bottom of the pyramid, all of them paying money to a few people at the top. Each new participant pays for the chance to advance to the top and profit from cash paid by others who join down the line. Pyramids resemble a legal MLM in structure, but there is an important difference. Pyramid schemes seek to make money from you, while multi-level marketing seeks to make money with you. The Direct Selling Education Foundation suggests that, before you sign up with a company, you ask yourself these three questions:

1) How much am I required to pay to become a distributor? An MLM company will generally charge a small start-up fee. Pyramid schemes make most of their money from signing up new distributors, so their start-up charges are often very high. These start-up fees may be called many things and you may be told they are required or are recommended purchases for training, computer services and product inventory.

2) Will the company buy back unsold inventory? Honest companies will usually buy back any products that you fail to sell. Bogus companies will stick you with the inventory.

3) Are the company's products sold to customers? Pyramid schemes

gain nothing by actually selling a product, and often don't sell anything at all. They focus only on gaining new investors. Be wary if you must start by buying a large amount of product. Also, take a good look at the product itself. Multi-level marketing depends on quality products that are well-priced; pyramid schemes do not. Pyramid schemes are much like chain letters; they require mathematical gymnastics that cannot possibly work. Pyramids always collapse in the end, and only a very few (usually the con artists themselves) make any money on them at all.

As with any other investment, before you commit ask questions about the company, its products, start-up fees, buy-back policies and its earnings. Take your time and investigate any information you're given. Talk to other investors and research the company. Don't act hastily!

If you had a million dollars in your hand, you wouldn't throw it away would you? You would protect it and treat it with care.

If your client feels valued and appreciated, he will go out of his way to share his gratitude with others.

Strong relationships will grow your business. People will seek you out. Focus on the relationships you build and the profits will follow.

8. Never Stop Learning

If you decide one day that you have achieved absolute wisdom and there is no more room for improvement, your business will start to wither.

Human beings evolve. Entrepreneurs evolve. There is no absolute perfection. Make continuing education mandatory.

Fill yourself with information about selling, marketing, your industry, your competition, your client demographics and psychographics, copywriting, economic trends, new product development, etc.

By using these strategies you will create breakthroughs for yourself and your business.

Take some time in the next couple of days to find a quiet place for yourself to sit and write down your vision and goals.

How To Actually Make Money In Network Marketing

Most people that I know who are, or have been in network marketing, never seem to make a dime! Others (myself included) make a small fortune. If you're not doing VERY well with your business, and you're honestly putting in the effort, let me explain to you how to turn things around!

First of all, you need to make sure that you have the right product. That's the biggest mistake I see those who're failing make. At the same time, I see many marketing the same products that I do, not having the same success. So that's only one piece of the puzzle. Still, it's a very important piece of the puzzle.

The product must be:

- A product that you can't buy cheaper at the local Wal-Mart! If your potential customers could get the product cheaper locally, you'll have a hard time marketing it to people who, at least subconsciously, have to believe that they're being ripped off. To honestly evaluate "the true value" of the product you also need to separate the product from the "biz-op" end of it. The product has to actually be worth the asking price even if it didn't offer resellers or representatives a chance to profit from selling it.

- A product category that a large group of people are already buying. Having to educate people that they need your product is an uphill... and often losing... battle. Why not offer them something they're already using.

- A consumable product. One-time sales mean you are constantly searching for new customers. It's sooooo much easier to market something that they will love, use up, and keep getting more of from you. Built-in residual income simply can't be beat. Make the sale once... do the work once, and then earn commissions for a very long time.

Let me give you a quick example of such a product. Practically everyone over 6-years-old in America, and in many countries, send greeting cards. They send them for holidays, birthdays, graduations, the birth of a child, wedding, etc. Some people send as many as 70 cards a year... my wife probably falls into that category.

My wife and many others send tons of cards costing up to $5 each. Actually, it's more correct to say that she now sends cards on all of these occasions for less than $1 each. No, those are NOT e-cards, and that price includes postage. She sends them through a network marketing company that does print on demand cards, and allows her to upload her address book into an online database, and then reminds her of when it's time to send birthday cards, etc. This product also has wide appeal to professionals such as car dealers, bankers, realtors, lawyers, etc., because the system allows them to send entire campaigns of pre-scheduled sequences of personalize cards. It's very powerful.

That is just one example, one I happen to really like, of a network marketing business where you don't have to create demand, or search for customers. They're just waiting for you to show them a product that will actually save them money. Since these cards are fully personalized, don't require you to even leave your house, and can be sent in a few seconds... all for under a dollar, I doubt that even Wal-Mart can compete. The only drawback to the card system is that they don't accept distributors outside the U.S. and its territories. Customers can be from anywhere though.

Now, aside from the product, you need:

- A proven company. The management needs to know what it's doing, and that only comes from experience in managing a similar business. It simply doesn't make sense to risk your time and other resources on inexperienced management.

- A well-designed website. This is a BIG drawback for many network marketing companies I see. Their site leaves you guessing "What in the world is this site about!" Most visitors that you manage to attract to such as site will simply leave, and in the process leave you frustrated with your lack of success.

- A compensation plan that doesn't require a Ph.D. to understand. For some reason, most network marketing companies choose to express their compensation plans in terms only someone "high on crack cocaine" could begin to comprehend. The easier it is for someone to understand the compensation plan, the better. After all, your prospects are coming into it for the money, so they must be able to understand how, and how much, they'll get paid.

- A belief in the product strong enough that you can honestly recommend it. All of our communications have a "tone" to them... even our written communications. We humans pick up on subtleties in communication, and we ARE able to tell when someone doesn't really believe what they're saying to us. We get that feeling that something "isn't quite right." At the same time, when someone shares information with you about a product that they're totally "ga-ga" over, you pick up on that too.

The business also needs to require some initial investment. Having studied hundreds of different companies, and different business models, I expect to make an investment to get into a good network marketing program. You need to attract serious business people, and programs that you can get into for absolutely nothing generally only attract those who will never upgrade, never do anything to really promote the business, and expect you to do everything for them.

A nominal fee for the starter kit serves to weed out those who would waste a lot of your time, and allows you to spend time working with those willing to invest in actually building a business. The reality is that there's no business, that I know of, that you can get into without some type of investment!

Another essential is training for team members. You MUST have a duplicable system that anyone can plug into. It can't be only suitable for certain personality types. Any new person must be able to follow the step-by-step training, and because of the system in place, achieve the same results. The training needs to be available on webpages, in printable form, and in audio form, so that team members can digest it in whatever form they learn best in. Live training events... or perhaps webinars need to also be available.

Far too many people fail in network marketing simply because they can't do what the top producers are doing. When that happens, it's because the top producers are often "lone wolves" off doing their own thing outside of the system. What that does is allow the lone wolf to bring in a lot of people who can't do what they're doing. That formula simply can't work long-term.

One final factor that differentiates the successful from the unsuccessful network marketer... the successful network marketer only recruits the right people. They interview prospects to determine why they want to get into the business in the first place. If the prospect doesn't have compelling, emotional reason for wanting to get into the business, top producers don't waste their time recruiting them. That takes a lot of discipline, but it's the only way to build an organization that will be successful long-term. Bringing in the wrong people... people who won't work, and want you to do everything for them, only leads to disappointments for everyone involved.

I've just shared with you the key to actually making lots of money in network marketing. It's all really just common sense, but common sense that far too few people seem to be applying. Think about what was just shared with you above. Then ask if you're doing it right. If not, making a few corrections will dramatically improve your results.

I remember when I was working, back in 1996, I was a totally lazy person. If my boss ordered me to do something, I listened to what he said, but in my heart, I kept complaining that I needed to find a new job with a better employer.

All I thought about was getting a better job, with better pay, in a better environment.

However, I never thought about it from my bosses point of view, untill I became my own boss.

He said "Henry, you need to be able to expand your boundary, if you would like to become very successful."

"I see you have great potential, but you lack ambition to get to where you want to go."

I remembered that he was always busy talking to clients, busy improving the store condition, and busy organizing work for the employees.

He was also busy reminding me to finish my work on time. He set deadlines and expected me to meet them each and every time.

I could feel that whenever he failed to meet a deadline he was very frustrated and disappointed with his own performance.

Once we finalised a project he would treat us to dinner. However, the next day, he would start a new project again without even slowing down.

Working with him, lead me to understand that his success was based on discipline and hard work, not just a type of luck that everybody is hoping for.

Here is how I started...

As you may have noticed, I started my Internet business in 1999.

During that time, I kept finding many good leaders in Internet marketing. I joined one opportunity after the other.

I joined several M.ulti-Level-Marketing programs which I failed at, and even lost over $10,000 calling up leads as I had been taught on the tele-conference. Be yourself. Imagine the end result, and use other people's knowledge to create your own result.

I found out that if I kept joining business opportunities, I would create an OK income, however, instead of just being the seller, I would like to be the owner.

It means that instead of helping him to sell his products, you learn how to become him by helping others to sell your own products.

Ask yourself: Who is more powerful?

The one who uses the computer or the one who built the computer?

The one who uses Microsoft word or the one who built Microsoft word?

It's obvious, the answer will be the builder, not the user. It's obvious that the owner of the biz-op is powerful, not the seller.

Henry, how can I become the builder?

When you start your own Internet business, don't just promote affiliate programs, but open your own E-store with your own unique purpose.

Once you have built it up, use the business opportunity or other similiar program as a plug-in opportunity.

That's the only way you can become very successful online.

Another important thing is: Learn as much as possible from people who are the leaders in this field. One of the best ways, is to purchase their courses, books, audio, or even to participate in their seminars.

With the combination of leadership inside you and your willingness to expand your limits, you will definitely become a leader in the industry of your choice.

The 5 Critical Elements of A Successful MLM System

Take it or leave it but all big MLM earners follow a marketing system. They find a system that works and stick to it.

You’ll find that success in almost all areas of life comes from doing what works over and over again. A pianist perfects a classical piece by playing the same piece several times. The baseball player practices his strikes by swinging the same bat multiple times. When life is all boiled down to the basics, we all sleep, eat, brush our teeth, go to work, play and the same routine starts all over again.

Not very exciting when you think about it. But it works.

This doesn’t mean that there is no room for creativity or growth. But there is a basic structure that is in place that if you try to circumvent, it will leave you flat on your face.

One of the gravest mistakes made by those new to the network marketing industry is they try to reinvent the wheel. Instead of following the proven system that is already in place and used by the heavy hitters, they may think that the system is not creative enough. After several fruitless months of trying it ‘their way’ they often give up and blame the whole industry.

After working the network marketing industry for over 15 years I discovered that there are some critical elements that any successful marketing system must have.

1. Lead Generation. Fresh leads are like the lifeblood of any MLM business. As soon as you stop generating new leads then your business will start to suffer. You may choose to generate these leads for yourself through a website, newspaper and magazine ads or from just working your warm market. You may also buy these leads from a reputable company. However you choose to supply these leads, the fact is, it must be done.

2. Training of new recruits. A training program must be in place to prepare those distributors who are new to the company and network marketing. This may be in the form of literature or multimedia presentations but this training is essential. Distributors that are left on their own to find their way often get lost. Proper training builds the confidence in the new distributor to share the program with others.

3. Marketing Tools. This includes websites, autoresponder series, conference calls, display ads, telephone scripts and audio products. These should all be prepared by a professional marketer so that the distributor has little to do but to use them ‘as is’. Often when the company provides these tools they are too generic to be as effective as when a group of distributors invest in creating their own. Most MLM companies concentrate more on product development and day to day running of the business than helping their distributors market the product.

4. Telephone skill development. This could be included under ‘training’ but is of such significance that it deserves a place of its own. Network marketing is still really relationship marketing and even with the advent of the internet and other new technologies nothing beats the human voice and actually talking to your recruits. Even if you use email, for example, the decision often comes from a phone call. The skill of using the telephone to recruit new distributors is therefore an invaluable one.

5. Achievement Recognition. Most MLM companies have a program in place to recognize those who have reached a certain level in number of distributors in their downline or income. This provides motivation to the network marketer as well as a goal to aim for. As an independent distributor it’s encouraging to get recognized by your peers along the way. Running a home business can become very lonely at times since the business owner is away from the typical office environment.

There is no escaping the fact that MLM involves selling. Most network marketers try to downplay this aspect of the business because most people are fearful of selling. Most people think of selling in terms of the used car salesman trying to get them to buy a car that doesn’t work as well as it is shiny and they freeze up.

But selling is the only means by which products will reach the hands of the consumer. The burden of the marketing system is to make the process so easy and foolproof that it can be easily duplicated by anyone. If the ‘system’ becomes so complicated that it needs a professional to explain it then duplication becomes more difficult and the business will fail to grow.

I have been able to grow strong teams in my network marketing career because I set a system in place for all my distributors and those who work the system are rewarded handsomely.

Those who ignore the system and try to be creative often blame the company, the product or the whole industry when they fail to achieve their goals. Everything, except their failure to walk the trodden path rather than go wandering in the woods.

The secret of success is following a proven system. As much as many people know of this principle of success, it still amases me to see new distributor being left with little or no system to follow in network marketing business.

What are systems in network marketing? Communication system for quick information distribution and effective training across the globe, recruiting system that a new distributor can simply follow to build a successful team, marketing system to sell the company products - either online or offline, and quality training system that new distributor can easily duplicate.

These are the necessary systems a network marketing company that has the success of it's distributors at heart must have. When new people are brought into this business and are left to do the 'trial and error' themselves, although they might end up with success at last but it usually takes too much of their time and too much of hardwork.

The less persistent people drop out and bad mouth the whole industy. The reason why i joined one of the most successful MLM company in the world is because the way they have designed their tools and systems. You have to follow a step-by-step plan to success. You cannot move to the next level if you have not completed the previous ones. The discipline keep everyone focused and doing the same thing.

Systems don't fail. The systems have been proved for years to work and bring result, so why re-invent the wheel. If you are still with a company that has left you on your own or you are doing something different from your upline, everyone is doing as they please...please do remember that people fail, but systems don't. The 'X' Factor of MLM Mega Earners

Send this to your downline. It will give them a perspective that will make you money. More enrollees, more sales and more money.

Ask the average Networker [why] they joined your company and they will respond, “because I want to help a lot of people.”

Some will answer, “Because it’s a solid product that everyone needs.”

Rarely will you hear someone say, “TO MAKE LOTS of money!”

That is because most P/T Networkers, who are not used to making $50,000 to $100,000 annually, working from home, are afraid that what they are selling will not make their new recruits money.

(please read that again)

Now, to properly put this into perspective, here is a question:

When you walk into McDonalds, have they ever said to you, “you really should not Super-Size your meal, it’s way too many calories!”

No they haven’t. That’s ridiculous. It’s also never happened because McDonalds could give a rip what you order. For them, it’s just a trade.

It’s a value trade. They sell food. You give them money for it.

No emotion. It’s just business.

Even when an obese man walks into McDonalds and orders way to much food, no one at McDonalds warns the man that this could worsen his health. Because no one cares.

It’s just plain good ole fashion business.

It’s a value for value trade.

However, in our industry, lots of people, especially the new people, say….they think to themselves…

“I will wait to make money BEFORE I recruit my friends.”

“I better not recruit her, I KNOW she could never do this.”

“I better not ask my new downline member for $500 to join our lead co-op, I bet she doesn’t have the money.”

The problem is that too many wish-they-could-be-F/T Networkers think the ONLY way for them to make money here, is if everyone succeeds.

And that just isn’t how life works.

Half of the people, they say, get a divorce.

Most people who dabble in MLM fail. Any why shouldn’t they? Who builds a part-time legitimate business dabbling?

Most people quit their diets. Right? (research says they even get fatter!)

So here’s the “X” factor.

The “X” factor is that it’s not your job to worry about who should join this and who can’t. Your job, is to simply get enough people looking at your opportunity in the first place.

The truth is, the heavy-hitters in this industry understand “free will” and could care less who wins or who loses. And it is THAT way of thinking that allows them to siphon through MORE people.

The Proper Thinking is:

The thinking is, “some will, some won’t, so what [?], who cares?”

It’s not about becoming a cold hearted person.

It’s not.

It’s not about abandoning your core values.

It’s about, how can you truly help people if you are broke?

You can’t. Not if you’re broke.

There’s an old saying and it goes like this, “you can’t save the whales if you can’t afford to fish.”

What that means is this.

Do you want to help a lot of other people?

Then you be the model. You be their inspiration.

You be the one who recruited 100 people in a year.

You be the one who earns the serious money.

Some will. Some won’t. So what. Next.

Heavy-hitters get to a place whereby emotions are left at home.

We are all adults. This is business. And we are all here to make money.

And that can’t happen if you are pre-judging people, worrying about who might succeed or fail, or if you are not asking everyone you know to work your program.

Consider this.

Big name MLM Guru’s think nothing of asking folks to invest $3,000 to $5,000 for them to be your personal coach.

Apparently, they are not looking for broke people who can only afford a few hundred.

McDonalds could care less about your health. If they did, they would not try to SUPER-SIZE every meal they sell.

If all of this is true, and it is, why are some people wishy-washy and afraid to get other people to invest $2,000 to $5,000 in a home business?

Why?

The answer is because falsely, they feel that they would be responsible if their new recruits failed.

And that’s the “X” factor.

KEY-LESSON:

Whether people win or fail is not your business.

Your business is to show your business to the entire world or at least to a few thousand people. In the next 90 days.

And when you stop worrying about who might fail, you will start to explore more avenues and begin showing MORE people.

Network Marketing is a selling business. Make no bones about it.

We are sales people.

We sell opportunity and we sell the good news of American capitalism.

And to play costs money.

Some will. Some won’t. So what. Next.

This industry is really a personal development business.

Because you can’t change your income and double your annual income by being the same person you used to be. You have to grow in order to earn more income.

A person who thinks like a $52,000 a year earner can’t make $200,000 with the SAME MIND that earns $52,000.

It’s impossible.

Who you listen to

How you act and dress

Your ideals change and what was once considered “silly” or impossible now seems doable.

How Not To Fail In Network Marketing On A Shoe String Budget

My friend Mike said that, 'people fail in mlm, network marketing, internet marketing, or home business opportunities for two main reasons.

1. Most people start with a shoe string budget, but since they don't know how to effectively advertise and promote their businesses, they run out of money without having the opportunity to grow and explode their business.

2. They pitch their mlm, network marketing, internet marketing, or home business opportunities to their family, friends, and co-workers. Then they run out of people to talk to, and out of money to advertise.' That's a sad scenario.

The key to not fail in mlm, network marketing, internet marketing, or home business opportunities; is to implement a franchise system with a proven marketing strategy that works. Sort of like Mc Donald's, the casinos in Las Vegas, movie theaters, and others.

For intance, do you think Mc Donald's is in the hamburger business? How about Las Vegas' casinos? They advertise, "what happens in Vegas stays in vegas." Movie theaters, Do you think they could stay in business by merely selling admission tickets?

Let me tell you why Mc Donald's can afford to sell a burger for a $1 dollar. Because it knows that when you buy that extra slice of cheese, fries, and soda, it will make a huge profit margin on them.

Las Vegas casinos lure you with their entertainment advertising, but they don't tell you that they want you to lose all your money in gambling which is where the real money is made.

The same with movie theaters, you take your family to watch a movie, and you easily spend $40 bucks in popcorn, sodas, and candies, not including the admission tickets!

Do you see what is going on here? Do you see the marketing strategy at work? If these businesses did not a have a game plan, they would go out of business or they would have a hard time staying in business.

The question that must be popping in your mind by now is, what does that have to do with my mlm, network marketing, internet marketing, or home business opportunity? It has a lot to do with it, if not all of it! The strategy is based on the ABC business model. Once you understand it and apply it to your mlm business, network marketing business,internet marketing business, or home business opportunity__viola! Your business will explode!

What is this ABC business model, and why is it vital to your, mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity? Let's just say that part A, part B, and part C, all three parts compliment each other.

Part A is the most important of the three parts, yet most people only use part B and C. Especially if you are advertising your business on a shoe string budget! Do you see now why people fail in business? Can your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity survive on parts B and C only? Sure it can, but it will cost you a fortune in advertising, and I guarantee it!

Part A is designed to help you fund your advertising, and generate prospects for your business.

Part B is designed to put quick cash in your pocket to pay bills or to invest to further grow your business, and part C is your long-term residual income.

How does part A help you fund your advertising so you don't run out of money? Simple. Sell a low cost high volume item that is closely related to your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity. Something easy to sell whether you are an expert or not. It could be a nutrition product, a service, or an affiliate program, but it has to be closely related to your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity. The reason for doing that, is that it is a lot easier to sell $500 dollars in retail products than it is in building a $500 residual income, do you follow?

Just to give you a perfect example, as a network marketer, would you buy a business that is worth $1,000 to $2,000 dollars without thinking about it,or would you be more inclined to buy an inexpensive book that shows you how to be successfull with that business? If you are like me, you would buy the book and educate yourself first. A book like this would be a retail product that sells easily.

By implementing Part A which will lead to Part B and then to part C, your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity will always be up and running, and no longer worried about running out of advertising funds.

Part B in mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunities comes in the form of fast start bonuses aka "bread and butter." As you continue to implement part A it will not only fund your advertising campaings, but also will generate endless prospects for your business. Remember, Part A has to be closely related to your main business.

Do you see now why part A is so vital for your business?

When you do your advertising, vary your advertising. Do not rely solely on one form of advertising. The Nightmare of MLM Recruiting

The reasons for failure are quite simple but many have no realisation of why they fail, how they fail, or what they are doing wrong. A failure rate of 95% is a shocking statistic but is equivalent to the failure rate in offline ventures, so there is no differentiation between both. Most would-be MLM'ers fail because they don't have a clue about what they are really selling or how their products and services can help others.

In the past, most MLM'ers were taught that they must emphasize product above all else. That may have been true 30 years ago when people worked programs like Amway, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Avon, and Tupperware in their local areas. Today, door to door selling has been surpassed by Internet communications and advanced media technology.

The compensation plans of those programs were built around retailing product. People sold to family, friends and neighbours (their warm market) and through home based parties in which the product was the focus. People were there to buy things, not to attend a presentation. Recruiting downline members was not a primary activity, in fact some viewed it as competition. Retailing was how most people made money. Recruiting only usually happened when a retail customer decided that it was a good way to earn some extra money for themselves.

Most MLM Pay-Plans today are different. They pay the lion's share of profits to those who build a sales organization of people who consume the products themselves and who may or may not retail a small amount on the side. Yes, it is definitely important to be in a program that supplies good products and services at a fair price. Those that don't, will not be around for very long, usually just 12 to 24 months.

BUT, if you are trying to build a sales organization, emphasizing product as the major selling point is never going to build you an organization of people who understand how to maximize their profit potential ... and make you the most money. The money comes from Leverage and that comes from recruiting new distributors and training them.

If you want to retail product, your sales efforts should emphasize products. But when you are trying to recruit members for your downline, this is the wrong approach. You are not trying to sell product to a potential recruit, so why should that be the major focus of your sales presentation?

When you are recruiting, you are really trying to sell three things: *1-Yourself, as a potential business partner; *2-A business opportunity; and 3*-Their dream of a profitable business.

Product is a very distant fourth. Your prospect will want to be assured that they will be representing a good product that people want. This is a given. You don't want to spend your time with programs that produce inferior products at inflated prices.

But hundreds of MLM programs have great products. You aren't trying to find a retail customer, you are trying to recruit a business partner. You should be very clear about that. If you don't know what you are selling, your prospect won't either and they will not respond to your communications.

I often see glowing ads for nutritional products in MLM publications. What the advertiser really wants is a prospect for his downline. If this is what you are after, advertising your "high-tech, super-duper nutritional supplement just isn't going to do that. People don't read MLM publications to find a new source of nutrition, they read MLM publications to see how they can make money.

If you want to sell nutritionals, place your ads in health publications and target those people in mailings that stress product. The letters and brochures you send to these people should be about how the product will benefit them, not about the business opportunity. Don't try to sell it all in one package. It just doesn't work.

That doesn't mean that you won't mention the product when you are recruiting business partners. It means that the total focus will not be on product but on YOUR partnership in a business opportunity and how successful your prospect will be when they join you.

Let's talk about an exception to this rule. There are a very few cases when the product is an integral part of actually making money in the opportunity. Take lead- generating MLM programs, for instance. Anyone who wants to be successful in MLM has to have good leads. Anyone who joins an MLM program has to buy products or services.

What is unique and worthy of mention about a lead-generating program is that the prospect can use the very product they are required to buy to build their business. This is a good benefit to mention, since it directly ties in with the opportunity itself and with how the prospect will be successful. Five pages of information about nutritionals does not do that ...

People who read ads in MLM publications are looking for a good opportunity and a good partner to guide them. They want to build a successful home business. The people you target should be looking for the same thing. They are probably not looking for information on nutritionals.

The most important thing you must sell in your sales letters, ads, telephone conversations and all your recruiting efforts, is yourself.

Prospects want to know more than how much money they can make in your program. They've seen lots of MLM compensation plans. They also know that the top earners can make piles of money. What they don't know, is that they can be one of them by following your guidance.

They want to know that YOU have a powerful system that will enable them to fulfill their dreams and be successful, that YOU are the business partner of their dreams ... Most newcomers don't have the confidence that they can be successful on their own. They want to know that YOU have confidence and that YOU can guide them down the road to success. They want to know that YOU have a PLAN, not that all they have to do is mail out x number of postcards or sales packets that they have to develop on their own!

This is why an MLM company's literature, no matter how great, will never sponsor people for you all by itself. It doesn't even mention the most important thing you are selling ... YOU! It is only useful when combined with your powerful sales presentation that spells out YOUR unique offer ...

Let's talk about how you can write a powerful sales letter that will sell YOU to your prospects!

The First Key to Successfully Build a Downline is to Know WHAT You're Really Selling.

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of actually writing a sales letter or developing a sales presentation, you first must know exactly what you are really trying to sell. Professionals call it your "Unique Selling Proposition", or USP.

The more unique your offer, the better your chances of selling it. If your offer is unique, you won't have any competition. If you don't have any competition and your prospects want what you have to offer, then you are going to make a lot of sales.

So just what is the USP of your MLM offer? YOU are the unique part of your offer. YOU are the major "product" that you are selling in any MLM prospecting letter or sales presentation. Never forget that ... Your call is about the prospect but it's YOU that makes the call.

There are hundreds of MLM programs and thousands of distributors competing with you. Your prospect has many thousands of options in choosing a business opportunity in Network Marketing. He does not have to choose yours, nor does he have to join your downline even if he joins your program.

What you are really selling is not nutritionals or a weight- loss product or a skin care system. What you are REALLY selling is YOUR partnership in a business opportunity. The more you really understand that on a gut level and start writing all your ads and sales letters focused on that fact, the more successful you will be.

To sell yourself as someone's business partner, you must know exactly what you have to offer (your USP) and make sure that your prospect knows also. What this should also mean to you is that you must have something to offer and that it should be what the prospect needs and is looking for ... It is up to you to find that out and align your products and services to their needs.

You see, people don't join MLM programs so they can run a business all by themselves. They don't plan to take courses at the local community college to teach them all the skills they'll need to succeed.

Your prospects want an effective and successful partner, not someone who sits on a level above them and contributes nothing to their business. Your prospect wants someone who will assist them in getting started, in understanding how the program works and how to maximize its profit potential. Someone who has some effective and tested marketing tools and experience in what works. Your prospect quite simply wants someone who can teach him how to make money in this business!

If you don't already have these qualifications, then your first step is to make sure that you get them before you start trying to recruit prospects. Before you ever start to prospect, you should have a thorough understanding of the MLM program you are trying to promote. Know the compensation plan backwards and forwards. Use the products and services. You can't answer questions about something you don't understand. Neither can you fill your sales letter with benefits, if you don't know what they are.

Write and test your sales letter and any other available marketing materials. Know what works and what kind of response your prospect can expect when he or she begins using these tools. Let your prospect know that you will be there, every step of the way.

Something you should think about from the first day you join an MLM program is what kind of support services you will eventually offer to your downline. Support services are one of the prime benefits that will attract new members to your group. Many new members join my downlines because they know that they will receive exceptional support services, including co-op advertising, postcard recruiting systems, live leads, mailing system, a regular company newsletter, full team support and camera-ready marketing materials.

You should plan right now to expand your list of services at every available opportunity. You should always market these services as part of the total package of benefits that you offer your business partners. As you progress in your program, you will have more and more benefits to offer your prospects. The more benefits you have to offer, the more you will sell. Your downline should see that you have an ongoing commitment to their training and production. That they can count on you to support their individual businesses.

The services you offer should display a single-minded purpose and involvement in the business. Your sales letter should make these things obvious to the prospect.

If you don't already have a list of these kinds of services, you should explore what is available from your upline. If they already have a dynamic recruiting system put together with excellent sales materials available, then this is a benefit that you have to offer your prospect. You should tell them about it. Spell out exactly what services are available to them and mention your upline by name. With a dynamic upline, you won't have to reinvent the wheel yourself. You can instead concentrate on offering services that your upline doesn't offer. The total package of "you plus your upline" can be a compelling reason for your prospect to sign up under your sponsorship.

Incidentally, whenever you are thinking about joining a new MLM program, you should always make sure that the upline you choose for sponsorship has a good package of support services. It will save you a lot of time and get you profitable far more quickly. Plus, you will immediately have services to offer to your prospects. MLM is a "team sport." If you join a good team to start with, you won't have to do so much building on your own. That has been apparent within our own support group and membership has flourished based upon results.

By far the most important, and most unique benefit you have to offer, is your own commitment and support. No matter how little money you may have to invest in your program, you can easily offer this to your prospects. This should be stressed over and over again in your sales letter. You should constantly be demonstrating your leadership and support to every person you sponsor. How do you do this? By calling them and welcoming them into the program as soon as they sign up. By making yourself available to them by phone. By offering to answer their questions, send them materials, help them put out their first mailing, and train them - whatever that prospect needs to get started and get productive!

I've often heard it said that the most important thing you can offer any member of your downline is simply your caring and concern. This may seem very trite but it's really true. Your partner wants to know that you care about her dreams and aspirations, that his/her success is very important to you. That building his/her business is a priority. Make very sure that your sales presentations gets this message across, especially as it's true ...

One of the oldest clichés in Network Marketing is that to be successful, you must help a lot of other people become successful. Like most clichés, there is a lot of truth in this. The most important product you have to sell is yourself. To "sell a lot of it," your first priority is to develop yourself into the sponsor of your prospect's dreams ... Then help turn their dreams into reality.

The purpose of this guide is to provide a step-by-step procedure for starting, operating and optimizing a MLM based business, and to do this without making serous mistakes along the way. There are volumes of books on this subject, so this guide will not attempt to "rehash" the "rose colored" views of these authors. Instead, this guide will show you a "lean, mean, cut-to-the-bone" quick and easy way to succeed in your business based upon the MLM MACHINE program. Also, you will be shown tips to use, tricks to be aware of, and traps to avoid.

Why Most People Fail In MLM

MLM is an explosive growth opportunity and it is here to stay. Like it or not! Let's review some MLM facts.

There appears to be thousands of MLM companies. Some of these MLM companies are well established multimillion dollar companies, while most of them are not. Many people have become wealthy in MLM, but some of the would be MLM'ers never make it! Therefore, before we go blindly into MLM, let's analyze why some of the would-be MLM'ers don't survive. Let's bread down the problem in three categories.

1. MLM'er can't EFFECTIVELY recruit new members. 2. MLM'er can't keep his program going. It runs out of gas and dies a natural death. 3. MLM Company has serious problems. I believe that sums it up. Either the MLM'er can't get his program started, can't keep it going, or the MLM company itself goes "belly up."

Why New MLM'er Can't Effectively Recruit New Members?

1. The MLM Paradox According to Webster, the word "paradox" means, "something with seemingly contradictory qualities or phases." In MLM, there is a paradox that causes major confusion that must be understood and dealt with. Here is the problem. MLM companies by law cannot aggressively "push" the MLM opportunity as the main reason for joining their program. They must emphasize their products and services and explain the MLM opportunity as only a nice extra benefit. If they don't, all kinds of local, state and federal government officials will attack them. Therefore, they must be extremely careful about what their literature, advertising and promotional material states, what they say in meetings, etc. That is why we normally don't mention the MLM company name when we use examples in these reports. We do this just to avoid this kind of problem.

All MLM'ers are aware of the MLM "paradox" problem. Look, everyone knows, including the MLM companies and all the distributors, that the real reason that most people get involved with MLM is for the opportunity! Yet, the MLM literature and the MLM distributor cannot tell you this directly without crossing over the fine line of being illegal. In other words, it is illegal to promote a MLM company if the sole purpose is to earn profits by signing up new distributors with no regard to the usefulness of the product or service.

Where does this leave the new MLM distributor? Well, no one is officially allowed to tell him how to go out and aggressively recruit new members! Instead, he is always taught how to "promote" the product and then "as an after thought" explain the opportunity! All up standing MLM companies will follow this procedure.

TIP: Keep your lead generating methods separate from your MLM promotions. In other words, it is perfectly legal to promote an opportunity any way you want to as long as you don't tie this directly with a MLM company.

That means that you can write your own advertisements, etc. and generate all kinds of leads. But when it comes time to discuss a particular MLM company, then us the official MLM literature, guidelines, etc. when presenting that particular company, products, and opportunities. In that way, you are making a clear distinction between "lead generating" and promoting a particular "MLM company opportunity."

2. MLM Concepts Are Way Too Complicated

Whey most people are first exposed to their first MLM opportunity, they are over powered by the complexity and newness of MLM concepts and terms. They are confused with all those new terms such as "Network, Downline, Upline, Organization, Levels, etc." Then there is the specific MLM plan that is being presented that is always anything but simple. There is too much to absorb quickly. Then there is much suspicion. Is this a pyramid scheme? Is it legal? They have probably never heard of the MLM company that adds to the problem. They find it hard to believe that they can really make the kind of money being discussed. They probably suspect the MLM distributor. And on and on. Right? So what happens? In most cases, nothing! They simply don't sign up.

3. Potential MLM Member Can't Decide Which MLM Company To Join

Put yourself in his shoes. If he has been investigating MLM companies, he is sure to be confused with all those offers and different companies. If he can't decide, he just doesn't sign up with any MLM company! Does He?

TIP: There are literally thousands and thousands of MLM distributors who will jump at the chance to tell you which companies you should get into and promote. If you want more "advice" there are many books written by the "experts." Understand one thing, every book and magazine article that you read and everyone that you talk to will almost assuredly have a "vested interest." In other words, they are either openly or subtlety trying to get you to sign up in their program. They will be quick to explain that there are "golden rules" and guidelines to follow. Some will tell you to stay away from "grown floor" opportunities since they are too risky. Others, will explain that this is where the big money is. Some will explain why matrix MLM programs are better than others - and visa versa. Some will adamantly advise you to be active in only one MLM company - "be loyal" is their motto. Others, try to sign you up in multiple companies. Still others have put together "Downline Building Teams," and will invite you to join them. They do all the work (You simply send to them money). With all this "good" advise, what is correct?

I have noticed one thing about all these "good" advice sources. They never seem to ask me what my goals are.

What is it that I want? How in the world can someone give another person advice before he understands that the objectives are? What is it that you really want? When? How much can you afford to spend? How much risk are you willing to take? What MLM programs and products do you like? Before we even think about selecting a MLM company, let's review the real world about MLM companies and opportunities.

Most new MLM companies never make it through their 2nd year. This is because they are not properly financed, don't really have a good offering, or the federal (Fed's ) government shuts them down! The reason that the Fed's shut down some of these companies is that there is a lot of unscrupulous people in MLM, mailorder and in fact, all kinds of business.

MLM is no different from other companies that frankly have about the same survival length. New companies in any business, MLM or not, have a tough time getting through the first few years. The people that promote MLM companies never seem to get around to explaining the real facts to you. But you need to understand the dark side as well as the "rose colored glasses view." Sound scary? Well, it you were to invest $5,000 to $25,000 like some MLM companies would like you to do, yes it would be scary. The correct word is probably "foolish."

Now let's take these facts and see if there is really a low risk, high potential waiting for you.

So, back to the question, "How do You Select the Right MLM Company?" This is like asking, "What Stock should I buy?" Brokers, advisement firms, and the like will be quick to make their advice. Wouldn't they? And why not - they all earn a fat commission or other fees. do you think any of them really cares about you? And if they really believed in their own "advice", why don't they mortgage their homes and buy in themselves? The fact is,

"No one knows!" And that is true with MLM companies and buying stocks! A standard solution does exit however: diversify! Spread your investment around! Why put all your eggs into one basket?

1. Select your MLM programs from the "Highly Recommended" listing from reliable sources

2. Enroll into at least 2 or 3 MLM programs. There is no guarantee that any MLM program will survive, so let's not be naive about this. Safety is in numbers! They all won't go sour . . . at least at the same time. And in the mean time, you should be making money with the one or two companies that you're in.

3. Build your one core MLM company that is at least five years old and is the best one that you can find. Write for literature on our #1 ranking program. Consider our #2, #3, #4 and #5 "Highly Recommended" for diversification. Since some of these can be promoted easier and faster, you may want to vigorously promote these programs while you are building your slower, but stronger #1 program.

4. Get into MLM companies that you have total confidence in. There is nothing quite as frustrating as trying to promote a product or a company that you don't really believe in. Stick with the winners with a few years of success behind them!

5. Make sure that the MLM company(s) that you select have inexpensive literature that you can send by mail in a cost effective manner. This just makes good mailorder sense!

TRAP: Don't be a "MLM junkie" without a plan. Human nature is to entice you into many different exciting " ground floor" MLM opportunities. These can be fine, but you will lose your shirt if you don't have a coherent plan that makes sense. work this program and its offering to the fullest before you take off in other directions.

Here are a few problems some new MLMers have:

1. No Upline Support Once a person joins a new MLM program, he is vulnerable and needs a lot of help from something or someone. In many cases, his upline is not actively helping him for whatever reason. This happens a lot when the upline person is simply sponsoring as many people as he can with no regard to what happens to them after they get sponsored. In most standard MLM programs, it is important that the new person gets immediate assistance from a local person, meetings or what have you. Otherwise his chances for survival are slim to none.

2. New MLM'er Can't Sell

This is probably the major reason most people don't make it MLM. By using standard MLM techniques, you have "just got to" sell and learn how to speak at opportunity meetings and the like.

3. MLM'er Cannot Generate Good Leads Next to the selling problem, this has to be the next biggest reason most people fail in MLM. Let me paint you a picture of what normally happens. The new person has just signed up in an exciting MLM program. He is taught by the manuals, meetings and so forth, how he should "share" his product with his friends, neighbors and relatives. Normally, he is not comfortable with this, and if he is typical, he will have many sleepless, tossing and turning nights! He just doesn't want to "impose" on his friends! He would feel a lot more comfortable just presenting his opportunity to strangers. But to whom? Unless his upline sponsor can get to him immediately, this guy is sure to be a fatality!

4. There Is No True Duplicative System

If the MLM company must be promoted through expensive methods, this is not feasible. Also, if you must learn how to sell, or to speak and conduct an opportunity meeting - friend, this is just not duplicative. It just isn't! Only a few people can do this. Here again, is a very important reason a lot of would be MLM'ers die on the vine.

TRICK: Follow up with your first level of people. You can do this by letter or phone. If you have signed up someone that is not active, replace him with someone new, but keep all your first level people active.

5. MLM'er Sells By Mail Using Standard MLM Techniques

Traditional way to promote MLM is to sit down fact to face, spend all spare time to call around and travel around to get prospects. A lot of people already have full time job, it is hard to find extra time to travel and make phone calls. MLM'er Can't Keep His Program Going Strong

6. MLM'er Not "Sure" About His MLM Company Or Service

Often a person will "sign up" in a MLM program in a "fit of excitement." After the dust clears, he comes down to earth and reality slowly sets in. He then starts having doubts about the company, the product or service and his own ability to promote it. If he has enrolled in a program that is not well established, he may have some well founded fears. If the company is not at least two years old, things can get very shaky very quickly.

The slightest amount of financial problems or bad press can crater this company over night. Therefore, it is of utmost importance for the new MLM'er to align himself with a solid company with unquestionable products and services!

TIP: Pick an established, financially sound MLM company that is at least two years old with unquestionable products or services. That way, you can feel good about the company and products that you are promoting. There is nothing quite like being able to "tell the complete truth" to your prospective customers.

TRICK: Don't select a MLM just because you are "in love" with the product. Put your emphasis on the business, the money making potential.

7. New MLM'er Doesn't Stick With It Long Enough

TIP: Starting any company takes time, and this is true with MLM as well. By the time you study the program, write and receive literature: study this and sign up; get the literature; etc. - it takes time! And then you have to generate your leads and so on. Also, there is a lead time before you get your first check. And then your organization has to take time to grow. And on and on. The point is, it will take several months before you can expect much of anything to start to happen. You should set in your mind that you are going to stick with this for at least one year! That just makes good business sense.

TRICK: Use some other promotions to earn money during the interim time. That way, you are earning extra profits and generating a lot of surplus leads to help your downline.

TRAP: Don't spend all your initial promotional money on one thing and all at once. Do a little testing. Spread it out and find out what works best for you. If you "blow it" all in one big shot, and it doesn't work, then what?

MLM COMPANY IN SERIOUS TROUBLE

Your MLM Company Gets into Serious Trouble

Here is something that can happen, so you had better be prepared for it. As I have mentioned before, there are some excellent MLM companies, and some not so good. But any company can get into serious trouble, and a lot of MLM companies certainly do. they can get into financial problems, or get bad "press," management problems, etc. Anything can happen, and if you are one of the unlucky ones to be promoting this company, you could quickly become another MLM fatality. Particularly if you are promoting only this one MLM company.

TIP: Diversify. Look, we both know that MLM offers many wonderful opportunities. We also know that this is a volatile industry. That doesn't mean we should not participate. If you had to invest several thousand dollars in one MLM company, then I would be worried. But that is not the case here. You can partake in several MLM companies for less than $200 a month, and still enjoy the benefits. Can't you? Let's face it. Although the companies that are listed "Highly Recommended" in the our site are excellent, solid companies, they may not be perfect. In fact, some may go "belly up." But not all at once! Worst case, you will be in a MLM company at least a few months or years before they get into trouble. Now tell me you won't have made a profit even with that company!

TRICK: Sponsor your first level quickly. That way, your income will more than cover your costs. With the Internet's help, this can be done with just a little extra effort. Then show your first level how to do the same. That way, you earn profits quickly and stay ahead of the game.

TRAP: Don't be a MLM "junkie" without a plan. diversifying with a good coherent plan is one thing, but just buying into a lot of MLM companies is a "no-no." But yet, did you know that there are many people that buy into dozens of MLM programs without promoting any of them?

TIP: When you can afford it, buy into more MLM programs. Re-invest some of your profits and round out your MLM companies to at least three. Start promoting MLM programs so you can recruit members into your new MLM programs. When you do this, you will generate surplus leads for your original MLM programs. At this point, you can either feed these leads to your existing downline, or start to build a second organization.

TRICK: Consider forming a co-op advertising group made up of your downline. You can advertise locally or nationally. You simply put the advertising package together, and your downline pays you so much for a block of this advertising. That way, they get tons of leads, and your downline builds automatically.

TRAP: Don't forget the method that you used to succeed. After you become successful, you will want to work closer with the individual MLM companies that you are promoting. All these companies have "grand" ways that they want you to use and teach. Beware! Stick to the system that worked for you.

Multi-level marketing (MLM) is a type of direct marketing that involves selling a product, service, information, or business opportunity. It is also known as network marketing, and typically operates as follows: the self-employed independent distributor first becomes associated with a parent company, and then attempts to locate and sell to customers and others who may also want to become distributors. One of the main goals of MLM is to sell the product or service and to encourage the client to become an independent distributor and sell the services or product themselves. The prospects that may be interested in becoming distributors are known as MLM leads.

These independent distributors, or business owners, receive compensation for buying the parent company’s product or service, selling the product or service to others, and for expanding their network of people through MLM leads. The “downline” consists of distributors recruited by business owner, who receives commissions based on their sales and the sales of the distributors they subsequently recruit. The “upline” consists of distributors who are above the business owner in the MLM hierarchy and receive commissions based on his or her sales.

These commissions, also known as benefits or rewards, are tracked through a points system, where the points represent the total volume of products or services sold through the business owner’s network. If a business owner can recruit more independent distributors, he or she will receive more benefits or rewards.

Some examples of widely recognized multi-level marketing companies are Mary Kay, Avon, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Amway, and Herbalife.

In this article I'm going to explain how to start your own mlm business , what mlm is and why it's so great and how you could benefit from it.

What is mlm?

MLM stands for multi-level-marketing. What this means is that you make continuous money from people you encourage to sign-up to an mlm program.

MLM is sometimes referred to as network marketing. Same thing, different name.

Why is mlm so great?

Start your own MLM business , it's so great because if you put in enough effort, you can make a substantial amount of money every single month.

Here's how it works;

You get people to sign up under you for a particular mlm business (This isn't too hard to do, but we'll discuss this in a further issue) then you get paid monthly for those subscriptions. But that's not the best bit, you ALSO get paid when the people you got to sign up, bring in people of their own, and so forth, for however many levels that particular mlm business offers.

If you start your own mlm business you could recieve huge financial benefits once you get the ball rolling. Just think what would happen if you only got 1 person to sign up to your mlm business and that person signed up 100 people on his own, you'd be raking it in, all from that one sale.

That's why start your own mlm business is so great.

You make the effort once, and get paid over and over again. I like to think of this as exponential success.

You might think it sounds like free money, but it's not. It does take some work to actually get it started, but once you do, you'll have a hard time failing.

Which one will you be in network marketing?

The truth is the odds are against you; chances are you’ll be a statistic.

Hmmmmm bet the super star space commander upline guru that signed you up or wants to sign you up told you that did he/she?

Here are a few stats that may alarm you:

Did you know that 70,000 people sign up into a network marketing company EVERYDAY?

But did you know that 95% of the people that sign up into a network marketing company will quit within the first year?

WHY?

Well there are a lot or reasons, poor support, poor company, poor product, poor compensation plan, poor upline. But to me one of the biggest reasons is…

PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LIED TO!!

Most people have been lied to from the get go.

Many of the people who are recruiting people into companies (hate that term recruiting) are lying to people and telling people what they want to hear so they will join their company.

Now on one had you can’t blame many of these people, there’re just doing what they were taught by the person that signed them up, and that’s usually some person with the recruit, recruit, recruit mentality…those are the people I blame.

Hey the great news is you DON’T have to be a statistic. You just need to be taught the correct way of building your business, but first you need to know some of the lies you’ll probably be told or already have been told.

My first and favorite lie:

Make a list of your friends and family because that’s who were calling first.

Hey upline line guy, are you crazy? That’s the last thing, no that’s what you NEVER do. Because of this one lie there are thousands of people that have been shunned by their families.

Your friends and family members turn off the lights and pretend there’re not home when the see you coming. Ring any bells?

By all means share your product or service with your family and friends but not the business opportunity. Many of your friends and family members are NOT looking for a business opportunity, the truth is most of your friends and family are going to spend more time discouraging you then helping you. But don’t get mad at them they think there’re protecting you, ignore them and build your business.

Let them come to you, once you become successful in your business, your friends and family will notice and then they’ll ask you what you’re doing.

Here’s a tip. This is your business and you DON’T want everyone in your business that includes your family and friends. Only share your business opportunity to people who have raised their hand to you and say. “I’m interested” or “Show me what you’re doing”.

Lie number two;

Recruit, Recruit, Recruit. You need to make a 100 phone calls a day and remember for every NO you get you’re one step close to a YES.

I would love to track down the putz that said this. Let me ask you a question.

How many times do you like hearing the word NO?

How much do you like being on the phone every day hearing the word NO?

I think it’s safe to say, “You don’t like it very much”

The word NO has taken so many good people out of this business. Here is an example my mentor shared with me and it really hit home for me.

Duffy you’ve set up candles, soft music some good wine a great dinner a bit of hugging and kissing then your spouse says “NO”. All right just 99 more times and you’ll get lucky.

That put things into perspective for me real fast.

Did you know that 90% of the population is sales resistant, no wonder you’re hearing the word NO so much.

And some knucklehead say’s NO is a good thing. Moving on.

Lie number 3,

If you have no warm market you need to spend money and buy leads.

WRONG!! You DO NOT have to buy leads. Personally you’re just wasting your money. There’re people spending hundreds of dollars every month for leads. STOP IT!!!

Remember a bought lead is a bought lead. I don’t care if you paid $5 or 5 cents a lead is a lead. When you call these leads chances are they don’t remember what forum they filled out or the person gets upset because you called them.

Once you truly understand that people are not numbers, they have goals and dreams just like you. And they’re real people. And just like you they don’t want to be lied too and just like you they want a true opportunity to fulfill those dreams and goals. If you get just this you’ll go very, very far in this business.

Network marketing is a Relationship Business NOT a Sales Business. As soon as you understand that you’ll have people saying to you “PLEASE sponsor me into your business”

Until then you’re DEAD in the water.

I have NEVER bought a lead with my network marketing company and I don’t spend 10 hours a day making phone calls, I have people contacting me everyday asking me about my business.

If you had people calling you how do you think your lead calls would turn out compared to you calling people? Please tell me I don’t have to answer that for you.

For those of you buying leads stop wasting your money, prospects are everywhere.

I have tons of ways of getting leads for free, but here’s one tip that will reveal prospects to you everyday.

First LISTEN to people, that’s the most important thing you need to do. You’ve heard this “One mouth two ears” Listen twice as much as you speak.

Ok how do you determine if someone is a prospect?

Let’s say you have a company that provides a nutritional product that helps with weight loss. And now lets say you’re talking to someone and they are complaining about how they can’t lose weight.

All you have to say to this person is this: “Have you ever thought about doing something about it”?

If they say “YES” you have a prospect, depending on the time and place this person has just given you permission to provide them with a presentation of your product. You could give them your business card, send them to a web site or provide them some brochures about your product. Or ask them for there contact info so you could send them some info later.

If the person says “NO”…you say, “OK”.

THEY ARE NOT A PROSPECT, I REPEAT NOT A PROSPECT… forget about them, move on and keep listening.

This is just one-way there’re lots of other ways to find prospects. The point is you never have to buy leads to find prospects.

It’s a shame that so many lies are being told just to get people into a business, just because the rest of the world is doing it doesn’t mean you have to. Tell people the truth, listen to them and truly hear what they are saying. Build relationships; help a person, that’s how you build a business.

If you can help them GREAT if not that’s ok too. Not everyone is suited to fit into your business; and you would be a fool to think so.

Personally I would rather have 10 people that wanted to be in my business and that I told the truth to from the get go, then a 100 people I told what ever they wanted to hear so they would join my business.

Recruiting on the Internet in MLM is very popular! Yet, there are still many folks who are hesitant to jump into the arena of the Internet. I assure you the best way of learning HOW to use the Internet is to just do it!

And if you have already chosen to be a part of the Internet culture, then we congratulate you on a decision that we believe is where you need to be. The recruiting process on the Internet is NOT unlike the process offline, you still must prospect, contact, present, follow up, get the decision, and train and duplicate. But you need to understand that there MUST be a methodical process of creating the environment for attracting people to your website and then to ATTRACT them to your Network Marketing business.

THE MOST IMPORTANT ONLINE MARKETING SECRET: There is a LIVE HUMAN BEING behind the computer monitor that you are trying to recruit. Treat them as such, and with respect and professionalism. This is one of the Foundation Secrets that you must understand.

Everybody you prospect to on the Internet is breathing, has goals and dreams and understands that there is more to life than just surviving. And giving your prospect PERSONAL attention is even MORE important on the Internet than it is offline!

You MUST understand that your emails and ALL your communication is being read by a LIVE, BREATHING, HUMAN BEING on 'the other side' of the computer screen. I repeat this because even though it is obvious to most people, most people on the Internet fail to ACT like it in their MLM recruiting efforts.

RELATIONSHIPS are just as important over the Internet as it is offline. Sometimes even more important, since today's marketing methods on the Internet are not all done professionally.

Remember, the same principles hold true for building relationships on the Internet. It usually takes a series of consistent exposures. It takes time to build trust. And personalization is VERY important, especially on the Internet and MLM recruiting.

Everyone wants to be treated well, and with respect. And they also want to feel that they are special. So with your understanding that there is a LIVE human being on the other side of the computer screen. You need to create the scenario that you may go beyond the computer.

You MUST CONNECT with your person OFFLINE after gaining their interest, to create the start of the relationship, usually via telephone.

The other side of that computer monitor is a very special place that you must always keep in mind when recruiting, as that will determine a lot of where your recruiting grows, or doesn't grow.

PEOPLE WANT 3 THINGS:

1) To FEEL they are respected for who they are and their values honored.

2) To FEEL that someone cares about them instead of just want to recruit them.

3) To establish a connection with someone they FEEL they can trust and can help LEAD them to success!

If you can TOUCH, then TELL, you will much more likely to have a viable prospect than not.

Ask them about:

Family. Interests. Success. Hobbies. Career.

We call that the 'FISH-C Formula' for Connecting.

EMAIL 101:

ALWAYS Use a Signature (sig) File! This is free advertising for your company and for you. I cannot believe how many emails I still get from folks who don't use this great feature. It will be in the 'options' section on the navigation bar in your email program. In your Signature File, you should ALWAYS include your name, email address, phone number and website address. Yes, include your phone number! You want to be personal right? They MIGHT want to call you directly!

PROMOTING YOUR WEBSITE:

Having a website is a MUST. Here's a few basics about getting your own website if you don't already have one, and how to increase traffic to generate more leads and a larger warm market on the Internet. Your advertising focus MUST be on getting people to visit your website.

Have you noticed that EVERY type of media now advertises their website? Newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, every advertisement you see or listen to now advertises their website encouraging you to visit. Why? Convenience and Culture. Everyone who has Internet access can check out your information at THEIR convenience, and it works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, is part of our Culture now. AND it's cost effective!

A Network Marketing distributor website with PULLING POWER is a strong indication of the seriousness you and your company project, and most companies today have a website that can be pointed to and accessed for information and links. Even though most are limited to what they allow you to do as a distributor, you still need a 'visual commercial' on the Internet, and company websites will work fine. And there are some HOT company sites out there.

Always CROSS-MARKET. Always advertise your website AND your phone number. This way anyone can contact you to get the information they need.

Not everyone has DSL. Some are still on dial up. And some people will still prefer to call you to answer questions or build the personal contact that is required to form a relationship. If you have your own recruiting website, that is best. You will be able to have it designed and programmed to do exactly what YOU want.

However, it can be very expensive. There are several 'self-replicating' websites with pre-programmed web pages designed for recruiting out there. A self-replicating website offers EASY DUPLICATION. You go to the website, enter some information and sign up, then you can have your own personalized version of a main website.

Many of these websites are free, and the best looking sites may not be your company's own website. But, if your company offers a self-replicating site that is personalized, utilize it! Get ALL your downline using this training system! And it's great for prospecting too.

Everyone wants something FREE! Even other networkers can't say no to at least checking out your website, and maybe your opportunity later. You probably won't actually be selling anything from this website, but it's a great way to increase your leads and start building new relationships. Use them as a learning tool!

One thing you must learn in recruiting on the Internet. YOU MUST DO SOMETHING!

Just do something EVERY day. Persistency and consistency are two the best skills in Internet marketing. Continue trying new advertising methods and new websites to increase traffic. Make sure you follow up with every email you receive, offer something of VALUE to them. Tell them about a great new e-zine of yours that they can subscribe to for free or some other item that keeps your message in front of them on an ongoing basis!

Having your own website will work best for bringing people off-line to online. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, strangers, everyone to visit your website. Call them and personally invite them to check it out.

Just say, 'Hi Betty, this is David, do you have a second? Great! I need your help on something. I have a new website and I really wanted to get your input on it. I think it is something you will be interested in when you're finished will you give me a call back so we can chat? Thanks Betty.'

How difficult was that? You MUST learn to think 'outside the box'. Get people curious. Be personal. Then you will be more effective. Your success depends proportionately on your activities and attitude! Most people always seem to find what they're looking for. Are you looking for Success or failure?

Remember, learning is a continuous process and if stop learning, you stop living. Learning HOW to effectively use the Internet for recruiting does take time and effort, but YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

SECRETS TO FOLLOW UP:

In network marketing, whether online and offline, the Fortune is in the Follow Up! If you are going to be successful recruiting on the Internet, you MUST follow up with your interested prospects. Would you discover a gold mine and not finish the digging?

It is the same concept. So many people are afraid to complete the process because they are afraid someone will tell them 'NO'. Here's My Secret: It's not the YES's in this business that create wealth. It's the NO's. You will get a NO the majority of the time. But those with the biggest pile of No's create wealth in the long run.

How you handle the No's will determine if it will be wealth, or only a wish to be successful in your network marketing business and in life.

You are in the business of COLLECTING DECISIONS. It doesn't matter if it is a YES or a NO. Either way, you must collect them! You MUST FOLLOW UP to collect the decision, and that is where you make your money -- getting the decision. Especially on the internet.

For every 12 No's you get, you most likely will get a Yes. Fear plays a lot in recruiting on the Internet because many folks have fear that the results they want will not happen. You generally get in this business what you expect to get. And you generally don't get what you don't ALLOW to be in your life. If you collect a LOT of decisions, you will make a LOT of money. If you collect a few decisions, you will make a few dollars.

The more you follow up, the more your check will go up! Believe it or not, over 80% of network marketers NEVER follow up!

And I bet if you did the opposite, and followed up on 80% of your interested prospects you would create an MLM money machine that would create WEALTH from the Internet.

It is there, yet most people walk away from it laying down their shovels and fortunes, in return for an easier way to get through life and living off of the fool's gold that other miners cast aside. 1. Find Your Niche

Sure you want everyone to benefit from the opportunity for freedom you have to offer, but face it... not everyone has an interest in extracting themselves from their comfort zone. Successful MLM marketers are willing to step out on a limb, and to change themselves. No, it’s not for everyone.

Who are the people most likely to be ripe for a change? Identify your prospects, and target your marketing strategies toward them. Don’t waste time and energy casting your pearls before the swine. Invest where it counts.

2. Invest In Low Cost Leads

Bigger isn’t always better, though we tend to think so! Small ads, postcards, and other low cost advertising methods are powerful advertising agents. They’re small, too the point and effective... generating a higher than average percentage of inquiries.

Leads are crucial to MLM success. You don’t necessarily have to make the sale with the advertisments. Making contact is just as important. Your advertisement may simply direct them to your Website where you gather the contact information you need.

3. Stir Up Desire

Most people have dreams tucked away deep inside. Many have lain dormant for many years. You never know who it is that will respond to your advertising campaign, but you can be sure that it’ll take an emotional connection to spark them to action.

What do you think that biggest mistake is? Is it not finding the best source for your leads? Or maybe it is not finding the best “closing” sales method to really convert those borderline prospects. How about not having that “killer” sales letter?

It is none of these. The biggest mistake that many, if not most, network marketers make is that they don’t understand the REAL business they are in. They are not in the product business or “sales” business. They are really in the PEOPLE business, whether they realize it or not.

Now what do I mean by the people business? Well, it is the people you sign up and sponsor as your distributors or downline that are going to build your business. Our business is really creating long term positive relationships with others. And if you don’t understand how to treat them, how to tap into their internal motivations, you are going to be swimming upstream. If you learn how to treat the people you bring into your business the right way, your business will blossom and boom.

This really begins with the way you find those people you want to join your business. You need to have a true “service to others” attitude. In the network marketing and MLM business, your REAL business is discovering people who are motivated enough to do their business on their own, rather than trying to sell someone on your concept of how to sell other people. People don’t like to be sold. They don’t like to be “closed”. But there are ways to turn it around so that they sell themselves. That means focusing your attention on the person.

The real business is training and mentoring those people so they can duplicate the business to do it on their own. Have you ever joined a network marketing or MLM organization where soon after you joined your sponsor pretty much left you on your own, wouldn’t support you and after a while wouldn’t even return your calls? If that hasn’t happened to you, can you imagine what that would be like? So don’t do that. Train your people to the highest standard, mentor them, be available for them and they will work harder to help themselves. Which will help you immensely in the long run.

Most people can be highly successful in network marketing if they can change their focus to helping others and working as much toward the other person’s success as their own.

There we have the Internet. One doesn’t have to go to malls for the sake of shopping. You can buy almost anything from the Internet, from food to clothing, from house to real states, from gadgets to cars, et cetera.

But wait! How about business? Could it be possible to conduct business in the Internet specifically home business? The word YES will answer you right in front of your face. Everything is possible with the participation of Internet in the modern business transactions.

But is home business profitable and feasible?

How can one succeed in this so-called Home Business?

STEP 1. Recruit First

Home business is network marketing. It is composed of uplines and downlines. What are these uplines and downlines? Uplines are independent representatives who recruit another independent representative which he/she will use in the direct selling of goods and services to customers. Simply put, the recruiter is the upline. He/She gets his commission on the sales of the other independent representatives. How about downline? The recruited independent representatives are the downlines. Home business is a commission-based joint effort of uplines and downlines. That is the main reason why both uplines and downlines must work hand-in-glove. Without the other, the whole business force will be paralyzed. It will not function. So what does it mean, both parties share the same level of importance or significance to the group. Can you imagine home business without uplines and downlines? It can’t be, right? You’re going to have these four (4) “NO” if you do not have recruited independent representatives:

• no income

• no consumption of products and services

• no one to market the products and services

• no one will cater the customers

STEP 2. Maintain Minimum Sales Required

Home business is so simple yet requires careful analysis of the sales income. You can be a mathematician on this part for you have to tally your expenses and revenues. Interesting? This is truly for the number lovers.

Everyday, independent representatives (downlines) market the products and services. So make it a habit to tally the income entering everyday and the expenses leaving every hour. See the difference?

Maintaining the daily income is also a must if not a requirement to keep the business network working and functioning.

STEP 3. Monitor Products and Services Consumption

Check your inventory. There’s no much to explain and define here. When I say check your inventory, it means maintaining the minimum stock of products available to avoid having an empty or void stock.

STEP 4. Train your downlines regularly.

In every field, learning is always a requirement. Had you been a teacher, still, you need to study and learn. The thing here is to have a constant training schedule for the downlines. This study proves that a well-instructed downline creates a big difference than the downline with stagnant information in mind. Constant study really pays at the end. Marketing: What You Really Need Vs. What You Think You Want

Clients approach me all the time saying, “Tell me what I need to do to market my services.” I ask, “What do you mean?” They say, “Tell me how to blog/podcast/what to say on my website,” (fill in your own specific here). That’s when I know they lack the one thing without which they’ll never really make it.

It’s easy to hung up on details. Marketing advice often makes it even more enticing, promising you phenomenal results if you only do X. The “X” changes every few weeks and usually says more about the person who wrote the advice than what you really need to dod. Since advice is ever-present and ever-changing, for anyone trying to keep up it always feels like marketing is a big overwhelming thing that can never be fully tackled. In this dread, they are both right and wrong.

Marketing methods ARE endless. You can spend a lifetime learning about them, implementing them, collecting data as to their efficacy and tweaking your results. For the service professional (not the professional marketer) it is not necessary to learn them all. So the good news is, while marketing information is endless, your grasp of it need not be complete.

What you really DO need is marketing confidence. It is a key ingredient without which your marketing will fail. Of the over 700 people that signed up for a recent series of teleclasses I did on the subject, nearly every one either during the classes or via e-mail told me the same thing: “I am very confident in life but when it comes time to marketing, I get uncertain and afraid.” In short, they lack marketing confidence. It’s different that regular, “garden-variety” confidence. But what to do to build it up?

The methods I had participants employ were simple and gave results right away.

1. Get serious about what your REAL goals are.

9 times out of 10, your goals are not what you think they are. Going after artificial goals will wreak havoc on your marketing confidence (and, hence, your results) because you’ll never have the steam to keep on going until you get them. If you’re going after goals that don’t make you jump out of bed in the morning and enthusiastically cheer, “Time to get to work on those goals!” (and I’m only half kidding there) then you’re not working on your real goals.

2. Do it, don’t think about doing it.

Probably the most critical thing you can do to build your marketing confidence is DO things. So many service professionals get into paralysis by what they consider the overwhelming job of marketing. That’s when the marketing research overdrive response kicks in. You figure if you just gather enough information, you’ll feel they have a grasp on marketing. Actually, the opposite is true. The more you research, the more overwhelmed you become. The only way to alleviate the overwhelm is to start trying things out and experiencing the results to understand not just what works, but what works for you.

3. Give to get.

Too often in marketing a professional practice, we measure success in terms of results. Results are critical, of course, but in a high-trust exchange, such as happens when you sell a high-ticket service, very often the prospect will not buy on first contact. If you walk away after an initial “no,” or “sorry, not interested,” you are walking away from great opportunities. The practice of giving to get, wherein you demonstrate your expertise by giving people either free or low-fee access to it, is a great way to start building a reputation.

4. Build mastery in your craft. It takes being good to know you’re good.

Very often I hear from clients, “I fee like, ‘Who am I to be charging those high fees?’” Often they want a pep talk when they ask that. Instead, I ask them, “What would it take for you to know without a doubt that you MUST be charging that?” Too often we want to coddle ourselves and others when we don’t feel “good enough.” But in order to really build your marketing confidence, you must be excellent at what you do. So what’s that going to take? How must you hone your skills, what training must you attend, how many people must you work with until you know you’re excellent without any hesitation? Once you know the answer to that, set out a path to accomplish it.

5. Be continuously challenged.

Piggybacking on #4, it helps to get out of your comfort zone at every opportunity. You’ve heard the old metaphor about building muscles with increasingly heavier weights. If you want to be a highly sought-after professional, respected in your field, you need to push yourself all the time. What’s it going to take?

6. Research. Then do it your way.

People seem to have an insatiable urge to “just do a little more research.” While this is great, very often it’s detrimental, as I explained above. So if you must research, please know this. Everyone who gives you marketing advice is telling you only PART of the information. The part they can’t possibly tell you is how it’s going to work for you. So understand that when you read about the great new method you MUST try, or how you won’t be able to make it until you try X, know that may not apply to you. The sooner you take ownership of your practice and your marketing future, the happier and more successful you’ll be.

Home Based Business – 10 Things To Look For To Increase Your Chances Of Success

There are so many home based business opportunities in the market place and so many scare stories about companies failing, how can you tell which company represents the best vehicle for success? I offer you 10 pointers to watch for.

1. Is the product or service promoted by the company something which you will use yourself? All companies have a personal productivity requirement, it may be called something different or disguised in some way but it will be there. If the goods and services on offer are not something you would ever use this is going to be an expensive waste of money for you. Also, how it will be possible for you to promote something of which you have no personal experience? The only way to do this would be for you to have excellent sales skills, which most of us do not - the majority also lack the appetite and confidence for the hard sales approach.

By looking for a company which is providing goods and/or services in which you have faith and trust and which you are happy to use yourself, you give yourself the best start. At this stage do not be misled by monetary promises and the intricacies of compensation or marketing plans. At the end of the day, if no-one is going to use the goods or services you are marketing, you cannot succeed.

2. Look for a company which provides goods and/or services which people already use, preferably on a daily basis. It is much easier to promote things which people are buying already, you are not having to create a market, all you are asking them to do is to transfer an existing spend. No new money is required.

From your own point of view, I would hazard a guess that money is playing some part in your decision to start a home based business. It is important that you keep the “new” investment required to the minimum and you can do this by promoting goods and services you already use.

3. Be wary of companies which attempt to front load you with stock. It is important to keep the risk element of starting a new venture as contained as possible. It should not cost any more than £30 to join an organisation as this enrolment fee is designed simply to cover the cost of of administration in setting you up on the company records and providing a business kit. If you are asked to invest more, don’t be afraid to ask what this covers. Are you being “front-loaded” with product? This may or may not suit you. If the products are sample sizes or perhaps things you will use yourself this is justifiable. However, if you are being asked to invest in stock which will sit in your garage or spare room – please beware – Caveat Emptor! You may be told that such investment represents commitment – I say it represents unreasonable risk. At this stage of the game, how do you know whether or not you are going to be able to retail the stock? I don’t believe you have any way of judging.

4. Look at the sales process of the company. Are you obliged to market, take orders, place the order with the company, receive the delivery, repack items for the end user, deliver the goods and collect the money? Some processes include all or some of those elements and there is nothing wrong with any of that apart from the time it takes.

If you are going to act as a mini distribution centre you will need space, time and money to fund the purchases until such time as the customers pay you. It is important that you think this through, understand the process and are happy with the workload. Bearing in mind that most people starting home based businesses do so whilst keeping their full time employment, some sales processes can be a huge drain on resources of time, energy and money.

At the other end of the spectrum are entirely web based organisations. This again needs careful thought as the public are becoming increasingly wary of web scams and it will take a lot of hard work and persuasion to convince you potential customers that your offering is real. These businesses sound wonderfully easy and lucrative – the reality is often very different.

5. Are there geographic dependencies? If you are required to collect and deliver orders you will be restricted to a reasonable radius of your home for you to be in with any chance of being able to provide a reliable cost effective service. What then happens if you move? Do you have to start all over again in a new area? If there are geographic dependencies, how many consultants or distributors are already operating within your area?

Look for a company with no such restrictions, a company which provides drop-shipping services at the very least.

6. What are the trading terms of the company, the refund policies and guarantees? You will, especially in the first instance, be selling to friends and relatives and you do not want anything to go wrong! You also want to be spending your business time in productive activities, growing your business and income. So, look for a company that offers a water tight guarantee policy so your customers have no risk and you have no administrative burden dealing with complaints.

It helps here if your customers have been used to dealing direct with the company to obtain their products, despite the fact that you were the one who introduced them to the business. You will automatically be dis-associated from the complaint and your friendships will not be at risk either.

7. Look for a company which gives something back. Everybody likes something for nothing! A lot of companies do provide extra for customers but the cost of these is often borne by the consultant or distributor. How about a company which gives something which costs you nothing?

8. Look at the track record of the company. There is a value judgement to be made here regarding risk v reward. If the company is new there is possibly an opportunity for you to “be in” at the beginning but you will also be sailing in uncharted territory. You may enjoy high risk and the potential of high reward but I can tell you that there is nothing more devastating than to see an enterprise, to which you have devoted months of time and energy, disappearing overnight.

A company which has been around for 10, 20 or even 30 years has proven itself to be real. There is the possibility that there will even be some brand awareness in the eyes of your potential customers, although this is not always the case. Don’t be put off just because the company is established – it simply means they are doing something right! A lot of these companies regularly open up new territories and I am unaware of a single one that has reached saturation point anywhere.

You may want to look on the internet to research potential companies but do this in an open frame of mind. How often do you think people bother to publish their good stories to the net? I’m afraid it is always bad news which travels fast. I suspect you will find disappointing stories about every business on your short list, if you search hard enough. Remember there are two sides to every story and I invite you to check out the facts before making your own judgement. Ask questions – if you feel fobbed off, let the alarm bells ring. If you are given an explanation and more information you can make up your own mind as to whether this is a factor which should influence your decision to join.

9. Only now begin to look at the money. Examine the marketing plan and ask to see actual, audited figures to support the income potential being claimed. I beg you not to be dazzled at this stage by promises which may prove to be hollow. Don’t be swayed by a 50% commission with one company compared with 20% at another. 50% of zero is still zero! Business and compensation plans are invariably complex and don’t feel overawed or embarrassed that you don’t immediately understand these documents in their entirety. Things to watch for are:

* Your monthly activity requirement. How much are you expected to spend personally to qualify for your commissions and bonuses? Is this set at a level which is manageable for you? I know you eventually plan to earn money to cover the cost of this but initially you will be funding this yourself.

* Approach schemes that pay you for new enrolments with care, especially if that fee outweighs the investment the new customer is making. The numbers simply do not stack up if you are, for instance, to be paid £75 for each new customer if that customer is only paying £25 to join. From where is the balance to come? Be sensible and don’t be deceived! Some companies run special promotions to enhance enrolment rates and I would not be as concerned about these as the cost can be born on a limited basis.

* Look for a plan which provides you with residual income. This will often tie in with the type of product or service the company is offering. The ideal is something which people consume or use and re-order on a weekly or monthly basis. These repeat orders will produce residual income which becomes your pension.

* Watch out for “breakaways”. These are not always a bad thing but do ensure that you are always fully compensated for the people you have introduced into the business regardless of how far they advance.

* Be wary of any compensation plan which rewards you for “frontloading” on stock – this is the surest way of ending up with a huge credit card bill and a garage full of deteriorating items.

10. Be clear about your reason for wanting to start your home based business. Don’t be persuaded or cajoled by enthusiastic distributors. Look for companies which encourage those already in the business to support new people. Question what training and support is provided – FREE OF CHARGE!

Know that this is one of the most noble ways of earning a living in the 21st Century – provided you pick the right company to represent. It is also the only sure way I know of standing any chance of achieving financial freedom.

After all the looking and research I did there is HOPE for working at home! Yes working from home can be done! Though there is no such thing called “easy money working from home” as you probably see many people claim. You still have to look at it as working. The only difference is you will be able to do It on YOUR time. In our life growing up, we were taught a lesson that was very good advice for children. "Don't talk to strangers!" That is great advice and wise counsel for kids in today's world. I even taught my daughter that when she was a toddler. And I will admit, it was a concern of mine with all the meaness and trouble in the world today.

"Don't talk to strangers!" is still good advice for network marketers as well, if you want to remain a baby in the mlm industry. People will tell you that you are not to talk to strangers as they will reject you.

God forbid.

There are many different philosophies in the MLM industry today, and many are good and some are not so good. You need to find what works for you. But the one thing that will not change is the Truth, and all that comes with it.

The Truth is, talking to strangers can be one of the best things you could do for your business. Anyone who tells you different does not understand what it takes to Succeed in this mlm business.

Personal development is everything in life, and network marketing. It is what keeps your check growing, and your Success growing. And it is what guarantees you not being the same person you are this year, next year. Your income will always grow as you do. Yes, talking to people you do not know to sell them something or recruit them may be a little uncomfortable, but don't talk to them for that reason.

Talk to them to see simply get to know them as a friend, as you do not know even if MLM will be for them or not. It may not be! But what have you lost by talking to them? Nothing. And you could gain a new friend that could help you find someone who MLM is for.

Talking to strangers grows you on the inside, and helps build within you better people skills and communication skills in network marketing. It grows your leadership, and also your recruiting skills. And most importantly, it grows you to a new level of confidence and knowing you can Succeed in this business.

2) Talking to Strangers Extends Your Reach.

The single most valuable prospecting reason to talk to people you have never met is that it EXTENDS YOUR REACH in the marketplace.

There are about 270 million people in the US alone, and most people today, if you are 25 years or older, know about 1000 folks.

So what that says to the network marketer, is that there are about 249,999,000 people to go for you to talk to. You reach in the marketplace needs to be extended daily. THAT IS PART OF ANY BUSINESS PLAN. It is part of network marketing. And here is the great news...

Everybody that you do not know, knows a person that could EXPLODE your mlm business! What is wrong with finding them?

3) Talking to Strangers develops new Relationships.

The secret to Successful leadership in network marketing is RELATIONSHIPS. And some of the multi million dollar producers in our group were people we did not know, but did meet, and they went on to become some of my greatest friends and still are today. One "stranger" I met by accident ended up producing 10 million in volume. And it became and still is a great relationship as well as friendship. If I had not been blessed to meet him and talk to him, because I did not know him, my life would have not been enriched like it has been from knowing him.

If you are looking to develop new relationships that will last a lifetime, many folks that you will meet over the course of your career will be those people.

4) Talking to Strangers is a myth in MLM. There are no strangers. It depends on your perspective.

I do not look at people I do not know as "strange." They simply are friends that I have not connected with. Are they interested in the things that I am? Who knows? Many will not be.

But if you truly understand the driving force behind MLM, you will never meet a stranger. Only people who are after something from someone with their own selfish agenda meets strangers. People who are in the life changing business and are what we call "Transformation Specialists,"(TM) are interested in people that they can help, not be concerned that they do know them.

My advice is simply this:

If you want to remain a baby in this MLM business, then don't talk to strangers. SIMPLE AND PLAIN.

But if you desire to grow beyond the average, succeed beyond the average, get paid beyond the average, lead beyond the average, communicate beyond the average, make a difference beyond the average, and have a lifestyle beyond the average, then TALK TO STRANGERS.

It's your call. But speaking from experience, if you don't talk to strangers, you will end up limiting and restricting your Success massively in MLM and Network Marketing.

Me: Thanks for meeting with me today. Do you mind if I record this?

Him: Not at all

Me: You talked about sorting. You called it separating the serious from the curious. Can you elaborate on that?

Him: Spending the right amount of time with the right people and the least amount as possible with the people that aren't serious is very important. You have to go through a ton of rubble to find an ounce of gold. So why not let your system do all of this sorting for you so you have more time to spend on more important things?

When your system does the sorting 80% of the work is already done for you. A powerful system will welcome the visitor, find out what they are looking for and take them through the basics of having a homebased business. It will also educate them about the industry, invite them to an online webcast presentation and show the visitor how to make money as fast as possible. My system actually notifies me when each of these important steps has been completed.

The right system can enroll a new business partner, train and introduce them to a system they can use themselves.

Me: So they get to see how well it works even before they join you?

Him: Exactly. People join systems. They look for systems they can see themselves doing. Systems that will bring them success and make them money.

Me: In your talk you mentioned how important it is to find the right company and the right team. How did you know you had the RIGHT TEAM?

Him: Well, before I left my job in Corporate America I was tired and very burned out. It wasn't just the work, it was the stressful lifestyle as well. I did my due diligence and found a publicly traded company that made sense and was a good fit for me. I then called the company and asked for their best rep in my area.

After getting all the information online in a timely manner, I contacted the representative from the number on his site and asked him what the next step to get started was. He asked me if I'd like to go to a presentation with more details about the business and I said: "Sure where do we have to meet?" He answered, How about right at your desk? It takes about 45 minutes. I was still thinking that he was going to come over to my house when he said: "No, you can watch it on a "live" web-cast right on your computer. What's better for you 6pm or tomorrow at noon?"

He clarified that he did everything online and that I could do the same. This made a lot of sense to me and was my introduction to the best way I have found to build a Network Marketing business.

Now, the only time I actually meet my business partners is at the company's annual convention. They come up to shake my hand only because they recognize my voice from our occasional telephone conversations.

Me: That's incredible! You're shaking hands on the Internet.

Him: Yep! In 5 weeks I made my money back. In 4 months I went full-time and in less than 9 months I was up to six figures. After that I streamlined my system, shared it with my team and made them all wealthy as well!

Me: Would you still have been interested if he'd done things the traditional way, like taking you to a hotel meeting?

Him: Maybe, but I don't think so. There's nothing wrong with traditional Network Marketing, it just isn't for me. I have some stereotype hang-ups like most people. I don't like to talk face to face, I'm shy and I hate getting dressed up. Believe me, there's a lot of people like me out there.

I never have to approach my friends and family and I don't have to dress, walk or talk any certain way. Working online removes all the nonsense. Like, gender, race, age, weight, dress. It also eliminates the driving, meetings, hard work and getting ready…is my tie on straight? (laughing)

Me: Most companies out there already have internet tools like websites, flash presentations and voicemail. Can you tell us more about your system? Why does it work so well?

Him: Well, I figured out a system that puts hundreds of fresh business-builders into my business each year and it's simple so that anyone can learn it. It's a 4 step process:

1. Attend an online Webcast
2. Get Started
3. Train
4. Invite others to the Webcast

Then we track from the backend to see where people are in the system. They usually contact us. It's that simple.

Me: People actually call you to get started?

Him: All the time but understand that not everyone wants to get involved and that's fine. Somebody has to wash the cars and work at McDonald's (laughing) There's never a wrong prospect-Just the wrong time for a prospect.

Me: Anything else?

Him: Something we have built into our system is what we call a third-party presence. Our system recommends it's owner as a lifestyle coach. This recommendation is made by a well-known success expert so the visitor can feel confident and assured that all the information will be presented honestly and in full.

When a well-known author or businessperson is presented as your partner and shares some highly-educational and motivating advice BEFORE introducing you to the new visitor. Everything gets off on the right track from the beginning.

If we take the focus off ourselves, people can listen clearly (without hype) to what's being said and make an educated decision for themselves. Your system should definitely help this happen.

Me: Where do you think people are going wrong with their network marketing online?

Well here's a few things to keep in mind:

1. Don't send people to your company's all-in-one website. It's like going to the new Spielberg movie and knowing that there are 20 scenes going to be shown and you can pick which order to see them in. Would the movie make any sense to you? I doubt it. That's what's happening out there.

2. Beware of companies that just want to sell you leads. There's nothing more frustrating than calling people who were hoping to win an X-box.

3. Don't inundate people with 17 emails in one week and 27 different websites. Present your company in a simple way with internet media.

4. Don't use the same approach and information for everyone. Find out what the person is looking for. Is it: Time Freedom, Wealth, Health, Fire their Boss? Once you know you can get them the information that pertains to their personal concern. Someone that wants to quit their job right away is not going to be interested in a new skincare line.

5. Use a courtesy call technique when you call someone. When the car service center gives a courtesy call to remind you that it's time to have your oil changed, you don't take offence do you? In fact, you're probably glad to hear from them. They're just doing you a favor and being helpful. That's how your return phone calls should be made.

6. Lead with the business and not the products. The fastest way to the big money is to find more people like yourself that want to do the business. Stop chasing the ambulance and concentrate on the Brinks truck.

Me: You were the Number One Sponsor of your company out of 100,000 associates in North America. How's does that feel?

Him: It feels great! This online system allows me to travel with my family whenever I want. Last month I took my family to Hawaii and while the kids were having a nap I just jumped on my laptop and saw that a fellow had been through our system and wanted me to call him. I stood out on the balcony overlooking the beach and when he answered I said this was just a courtesy call to get back with him. My autoresponder had shown me that he had been reviewing my information. How do you like our system, I asked him. Do you think that's something you could do? He answered yes but the best part is when I told him where I am (laughing) and that I'm looking at a beautiful beach with my wife and kids napping at 2 o'clock on a Wednesday afternoon. There's nothing better than living the lifestyle and showing others that it is possible. It's very rewarding!

Me: What about attrition and people quitting?

Him: There's always going to be people who don't follow through but our company did a study on my internet team and our attrition was very, very low. In fact, we retained over 87% of all our new people which astounded everyone. People like this system because this system likes people.

Me: Thanks so much sharing this amazing information with us. Any last words of wisdom?

Him: Marketing is defined as "creating an interest and then filling it." The secret to putting a Network Marketing business on autopilot is to actually use the technology curve to show your new visitor how easy things are done online.

If you’re an online marketer and own a website, you know the key to making sales is getting more traffic to your website. You also know all web site traffic is not created equal. You not only need lots of web traffic, you need lots of targeted traffic. That’s the key and once you have it, your sales will increase exponentially.

The best way to get targeted website traffic is to use Pay-per-Click (PPC) services such as Google AdWords, or Yahoo or a host of other pay services. You also need to know what you’re doing or you could find yourself spending lots of money, getting poor results and losing money very quickly. Also, when you’re first starting out, you have a limited budget, and starting with PPC campaigns may not even be an option for you at this point in time.

That’s where free traffic exchanges come in. Free traffic exchanges can be a great way to get traffic to your website. You should also know there’s really no such thing as free because you must spend your time surfing through other websites to earn credits. Free traffic exchanges are a great way to get lots of visitors to your site however, so spending an hour a day surfing, is not a lot to ask if you’re making sales from your efforts. And isn’t this why your in this business to begin with?

Free traffic exchanges are a great marketing tool for a many reasons. The best reason is that you get lots of people looking, and hopefully clicking on your website or promotional pages. But there are hidden benefits to free traffic exchanges you may not have even considered.

Search engines love free traffic exchanges because of all the incoming and outgoing links they generate. Plus the rapidly changing content is another reason the search engines love traffic exchanges. Exchanges that have more content also generate a higher page rank, and therefore more traffic, and increased memberships. The key is to find exchanges that are very active and have lots of members. The more members they have, the more potential customers you get looking at your offer and your chances for sales conversions are that much better. But bigger isn’t always better.

Some free traffic exchanges may do very well for one marketer, and be a complete waste of time for another. If everyone were promoting the same website or affiliate program in the same traffic exchange for example, then chances are you would not make many sales. Even if you were promoting the best product or service on the internet, if everyone promoted the same thing, your chances of someone purchasing through your website or links, are slim to none. Also, when people see the same ad over and over again, they get desensitized to it. Don't fall into this trap. It's one thing to try and sell a very popular product/service/ebook etc, but it's another thing when a million other people are trying to do it too. Competition is a good thing, because it validates your market, but too much competition is tough and it's time to move on to something else.

We all know clicking on ads in a free traffic exchange can be very boring, monotonous and can take a lot of time. That's why you need to make the best of your opportunity or you will just be wasting a lot of your time and effort on something that just isn't working. If you have your own niche website, then you already differentiated yourself from the pack. If you are an affiliate marketer, then you need to find products/services that everyone else isn't promoting, especially within that particular traffic exchange.

One way to use free traffic exchanges to your advantage is to join a few at first, and see if your sales pick up. If your sales aren’t doing well, then test out a few more. When you do find a few traffic exchanges that appear to be generating sales for you, then narrow those down until you find the one, or two that are working. Now concentrate your efforts on those because they’re the ones you want. At least for now anyway. Things may change, so keep an eye on your campaigns and if sales seem to be falling off, then it might be time to change your offer or find another traffic exchange that could pick your profits up again.

As I mentioned, your individual promotion is everything. If you're trying to promote something everyone else is, I don't care what traffic exchange service you're using, your sales conversions are going to be very low, or nothing at all. You cannot always blame the exchange. Sometimes you have to look at yourself and think if you're doing all you can to make sales.

If you're going to use multiple free traffic exchanges, and I recommend that you do, you should get yourself a multi-tab web browser. Many of these browsers are free and run on PCs and MACs. The tabs feature allows you to have one web browser open with multiple tabs each going to a separate website. You could easily put 5 or 6 of your free exchange sites in these tabs, and earn credits for all of them at the same time. So instead of surfing for 1/2 an hour or an hour earning 200 hits for one exchange, you could earn 200 hits for 5 exchanges in the same amount of time. This is a huge time saver and multiplies your earned hits by 5X or 6X.

Getting free traffic to your website can be a lot of work. If you don’t have the money to spend on full blown PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns like Google AdWords or Yahoo, free traffic exchanges are a great way to get the traffic you need, for Free!

MLM - Sure Thing or Scam?

Be your own boss! Set your own schedule. Retire Early! Who doesn’t want that, right? Multi-level Marketing has been praised for allowing financial freedom; and it’s been criticized for being a big scam. As with any business venture, it’s buyer beware. Do your homework first. Both sides agree; it takes work. If anyone tries to tell you that it’s easy money, there’s so such thing. Also as with any new endeavor, you will need to make an initial investment. It takes money to make money. Below outlines the two schools of thought. You be the judge.

Some of the comments in favor of MLM include: “Donald Trump was asked on the Tonight Show, if he had to start all over from scratch what he would do - His answer...MLM". And yet another satisfied participant, “It is a wonderful combination of being your own boss and being mentored. It has a support system built right in and usually pretty neat products! I was involved with [company] for a while and the people were fabulous, products were great and the system of support was wonderful to have. I hear the same is true for many network marketing direct sales companies! I think MLM companies are great!”

Conversely, those who didn’t speak as highly include: “You only make money when you have lots of people under you. You spend a lot to stay in each month. I was required to spend more than I needed or could afford each month, so I had to quit. Seems to me the ones who do well are ones who can afford to really spend and have contacts already who have money they can spend as well. Then they in turn have contacts of their own that are the same. A lot of MLMs out there say you can make $X each month, but honestly there are few and far between who are really doing it. They hook those who want to work at home and need the money-only to lose them after they’re more broke than they started.” Continued another disgruntled former MLMer, “Unfortunately too many try to convince you that it is so easy. If it were so easy, everyone would be doing it. I have been in several different MLM companies and have experienced constant changes in the compensation plan. As we all know, the compensation plan is what gets our attention.”

So there you have it, both sides of the coin. All would concur that Multi-Level Marketing is not for everyone. But that’s why there are so many different flavors of ice cream. There truly is something for everyone. All in all, the bottom line is there needs to be passion and drive to make your business work, regardless if it is MLM or more traditional sole proprietorship or corporation. If money is your only motivator it will likely fail. You need to believe in your product or service or you can simply plan on failing.

Do your due diligence when researching various opportunities.
